About The Position

Give & Go Prepared Foods Corp., a proud member of the Mondelēz family, is a leading and growing North American manufacturer of baked goods with over 30 years of experience. We are seeking a Senior Automation Technician to join our energetic team. This role is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing automated systems and controls used in the manufacturing process, ensuring production equipment operates safely, efficiently, and reliably by supporting PLCs, robotics, HMIs, sensors, drives, and instrumentation.

Requirements

  • 3–5 years of experience in industrial automation or controls maintenance, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Hands-on experience with PLC troubleshooting (Allen-Bradley/Siemens), HMIs, VFDs, Robot, servo motors, and instrumentation.
  • Experience with industrial communication protocols such as Ethernet/IP, Profibus, DeviceNet, or Modbus.
  • 442A Industrial and Maintenance Electrical License (fully licensed).
  • Ability to read electrical schematics, P&IDs, ladder logic and control diagrams.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills for mechanical, electrical, and automation issues.
  • Familiarity with robotics (Fanuc, ABB, Kuka, Yaskawa).
  • Experience with CMMS and SAP systems for work order management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision.
  • Strong diagnostic, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
  • Basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics.
  • Possesses and commits to a high level of personal and ethical responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain automated systems including PLCs, HMIs, VFDs, servo systems, and industrial networks.
  • Assist with programming updates or modifications on PLCs and HMIs (Allen-Bradley, Siemens, Omron, or equivalent).
  • Perform diagnostics on sensors, actuators, I/O modules, and control circuits.
  • Monitor system performance and adjust controls to improve reliability and efficiency.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance activities related to automation and electrical systems.
  • Perform root-cause analysis on recurring equipment issues and propose corrective actions.
  • Ensure maintenance documentation and work orders are completed in the CMMS and/or SAP.
  • Support IL6S Autonomous Maintenance activities by developing One Point Lessons, Standard work and visual controls for common automation faults, resets, and condition checks.
  • Coach and support operations teams in basic automation fault recognition, safe recovery conditions and escalation triggers and reduce minor stops and repeat breakdowns.
  • Assist in equipment installations, commissioning, and upgrades involving automation.
  • Support engineering projects by wiring panels, installing instrumentation, and configuring devices.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on throughput, quality, and cost reduction.
  • Follow all company safety policies, lockout/tagout procedures, and electrical safety standards.
  • Ensure compliance with CSA, and relevant industrial electrical codes.
  • Maintain proper documentation of electrical drawings, software backups, and system changes.
  • Follow management of change (MOC) procedures of all automation, controls, and electrical system modifications to ensure risk are assessed, approved, documented and communicated prior of implementation.
  • Ensure all software revisions, hardware changes and configuration updates are properly tested backed up and reflected in electrical drawings and systems documentation.
