About The Position

We are seeking a Senior Automation Engineer to join our team in Henderson, NV. Your role will be to serve as the Automation Discipline Lead for major capital and greenfield projects within the US Minerals & Metals sector. You will provide technical leadership, oversight, and accountability for automation scope delivery. This includes leading the development, coordination, and approval of automation and control system engineering deliverables in accordance with AtkinsRéalis quality standards, project procedures, and applicable US codes. You will also provide technical direction for the preparation of control philosophies, P&IDs, I/O lists, alarm rationalization, cause & effect matrices, and overall control system architectures (PLC/DCS/SCADA). Additionally, you will oversee instrumentation and control system design activities, including instrument selection, specifications, datasheets, and integration with mechanical and process equipment packages. A key part of this role involves leading and participating in process safety activities such as HAZOP, SIL, and LOPA studies, ensuring compliance with ISA, IEC, NFPA, NEC, and client-specific requirements. You will interface effectively with other disciplines, vendors, OEMs, and construction teams, and review and approve vendor documentation and technical submittals for compliance and constructability.

Requirements

  • Degree in Instrumentation/Control Systems from an accredited University or College.
  • 12+ years of instrumentation design experience.
  • Proven track record of successful projects.
  • Highly motivated/organized.
  • Registration as a Professional Engineer is a requirement.

Responsibilities

  • Interface effectively with other disciplines, vendors, OEMs, and construction teams.
  • Review and approve vendor documentation and technical submittals for compliance and constructability.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and technical guidance to engineers and designers.
  • Support commissioning activities (FAT/SAT, loop checks) with clear technical reporting to project and client management.
