Senior Automation Engineer

BioMADE•Minneapolis, MN
•$120,000 - $150,000

About The Position

The Senior Automation Engineer will help develop and deploy process control systems, automation, and data historians for three new piloting facilities. The role applies practical industrial experience to the design, construction, commissioning, and startup of these facilities in collaboration with engineering and design consultants and the pilot facility technical team. The work will support pilot-scale trials and help domestic companies begin production of innovative products. The position will design and deliver a national network of pilot-scale facilities currently under construction. Working from a deep understanding of industrial processing, the Senior Automation Engineer will identify process-control and data-system needs and translate them into robust control strategies and data historian systems that meet customer expectations. The role may develop or review instrument datasheets, P&IDs, and other technical documentation for utility systems and process equipment. As facilities come online, the engineer will contribute expertise in the Operational Technology (OT) area, including installation, checkout, commissioning, and operation. The position may also evaluate customer technology-transfer packages for new control loops, particularly for externally supplied processing skids, and contribute to long-term capital investment planning for the pilot plant network’s control and data management systems.
