About The Position

Tectonic is currently seeking a full-time AutoCAD Designer with experience in civil, structural, or solar engineering design to join our multi-disciplined team in Newburgh, NY. This senior-level position is ideal for a seasoned design professional with extensive experience in Revit and Building Information Modeling (BIM), along with strong AutoCAD expertise. The successful candidate will serve in a dual capacity, functioning as an everyday CAD drafter for a wide range of projects while also leading and executing Revit/BIM modeling efforts when projects require advanced modeling coordination.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of related engineering design work experience in civil, structural, and/or solar engineering design
  • Extensive, hands-on experience with Revit 2024 and BIM modeling
  • Strong Proficiency with AutoCAD 2024 or newer and detailing
  • Functional proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to utilize other software programs as needed
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently while also supporting a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Requires a valid, acceptable driver’s license to perform site visits.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate’s Degree or CAD certificate in a related field is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Creating, modifying, managing, and releasing detailed layouts, technical drawings, and construction documents using AutoCAD and Revit 2024
  • Leading BIM modeling efforts for projects requiring 3D coordination, clash detection, and model-based deliverables
  • Developing and managing Revit models across disciplines including structural, civil/site, solar, and battery storage systems
  • Coordinating BIM standards, templates, families, and workflows in alignment with company standards and project requirements
  • Collaborating closely with project managers, engineers, and technical staff to develop accurate and constructible design documents
  • Translating sketches, markups, scanned images, point clouds, and client drawings into coordinated 2D and 3D deliverables
  • Serving as the in-house Revit/BIM subject matter expert when projects require advanced modeling or BIM coordination
  • Conducting occasional site visits to obtain field measurements, photographs, and verify existing conditions
  • Printing, organizing, and issuing drawing sets and models for internal review, client submission, and construction use
  • Assisting in mentoring junior CADD staff in both AutoCAD and Revit workflows and all other duties as assigned.
