About The Position

Community Action is a non-profit organization that provides critical services to low-income families in the areas of housing, homeless services, economic empowerment, family development, and early childhood care and education. Are you a technical expert in weatherization looking to step into a role that combines field inspections, project management, and mentorship? Community Action is seeking a Senior Auditor/Inspector to join our Energy Conservation team. In this critical role, you will lead the charge in making homes safer, healthier, and more energy-efficient for our clients, while serving as a technical mentor to our team of Auditor/Inspectors.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 4 years of experience (or related education) in energy conservation methods, techniques, and building codes.
  • Extensive experience performing weatherization auditing/testing and proficiency in the REM/Design computer audit tool.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to work effectively with diverse, low-income, disabled, and minority populations.
  • You must possess (or have the ability to obtain) multiple certifications including Lead Renovator, AHERA Asbestos Inspector, HEP Energy Auditor, HEP Quality Control Inspector, and REM/Design Specialist.
  • A valid driver's license, a clean driving record, and valid personal vehicle insurance.
  • Possess Health & Safety Training, AHERA Asbestos Inspector and Lead Renovator, REA Energy Analyst, REA Diagnostic Technician, REA Stick Built Installer, REA Mobile Home Installer (or their equivalents), REM/Design Specialist, and HEP Energy Auditor certifications.
  • Possess HEP Quality Control certification or the ability to complete all necessary coursework and obtain the required certification within one year of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual proficiency in Spanish and English (both oral and written).
  • Prior experience with REM/Design computer audit tools.
  • Previous weatherization auditing and testing experience.
  • Experience in social service programs serving low-income individuals in Washington County.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a mentor and technical resource for Auditor/Inspectors, providing field training, coaching, and professional development support.
  • Schedule and perform energy audits at income-qualified homes, and serve as the principal final inspector for Department of Energy-funded projects.
  • Conduct comprehensive diagnostic and combustion testing (including blower door, duct blaster, and infrared camera) to optimize home efficiency.
  • Participate in the contracting process for weatherization services and act as the principal field/technical contact for contractors.
  • Ensure all work meets Weatherization Specifications, state/federal regulations, and local building codes, while maintaining a strict focus on workplace safety and ethics.
  • Provide education on home hazards (radon, lead, asbestos, mold, etc.) and refer clients to additional social service programs as needed.
