About The Position

In this individual contributor role of Sr. Audit Manager, you’ll provide leadership, insight and proactive control advice to management and stakeholders on control weaknesses, efficiencies and emerging risks to the bank by leading or participating in the planning, execution and reporting of audits within the Retail Credit Risk Management portfolios including supporting Internal Audit groups as needed. At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.

Requirements

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors or equivalent degree in Business, Accounting or Finance
  • Professional designation (e.g., CPA, MBA, CIA, FRM, CRMA and CFE) or equivalent business experience.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute risk-based audits, report audit results and perform continuous monitoring of management’s control environment.
  • Champion the migration of best practices throughout CIBC and keep abreast of regulatory developments and emerging issues affecting CIBC and Internal Audit.
  • Effectively manage multiple audits and internal projects at different stages to ensure completion within prescribed timelines including managing deficiencies by reviewing the artifacts supporting the corrective action plans and assessing whether actions remediated the risks.
  • Communicate regularly on progress and issues.
  • Review audit work to ensure a high level of quality and compliance with audit standards.
  • Provide trusted and proactive advice to the audit team and business management on the design and operating effectiveness of processes and controls to ensure key risks and regulatory requirements relevant to the portfolio are being adequately managed.
  • Coach and develop team members to build and maintain a collaborate team environment and ensure individual development goals are met.
  • Demonstrate clear, concise and influential written and verbal communication skills when issuing audit reports, discussing audit findings, resolving conflicts or interacting with CIBC executives, regulators and external auditors.
  • Develop strong internal and external relationships through ongoing communication on progress of engagements and providing advice on risk, control and regulatory matters.
