About The Position

GAMA-1 Technologies is seeking a Senior ATO Subject Matter Expert to support federal cybersecurity authorization and compliance initiatives across mission-critical systems and cloud environments. In this role, you will lead Security Assessment & Authorization (SA&A) efforts, support Authority to Operate (ATO) activities, and help ensure systems meet federal security and compliance standards. This position is ideal for a cybersecurity professional who thrives in highly regulated environments and has deep expertise working with NIST frameworks, federal compliance requirements, and security authorization processes. You will collaborate closely with cybersecurity teams, engineers, system owners, and government stakeholders to support secure and compliant enterprise operations.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience supporting security assessments, SA&A packages, or ATO activities for federal systems
  • Strong working knowledge of NIST 800-53 and NIST 800-37 frameworks
  • Experience supporting systems through successful ATO authorization processes
  • Experience developing and maintaining federal security documentation
  • Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently within regulated and compliance-driven environments
  • Must possess at least one of the following: CISSP, CAP, CISA, CRISC

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting classified or national security systems
  • Familiarity with JCAM systems
  • Federal civilian or DoD experience

Responsibilities

  • Lead and support federal A&A / ATO activities for enterprise and cloud-based systems
  • Develop, review, and maintain security documentation including SSPs, POA&Ms, SARs, and related authorization artifacts
  • Assess security controls and support compliance initiatives aligned with NIST standards
  • Work with technical teams to identify and remediate security gaps and vulnerabilities
  • Support continuous monitoring activities and ongoing compliance requirements
  • Collaborate with government stakeholders and system owners throughout authorization lifecycles
  • Interpret federal cybersecurity regulations and ensure alignment across systems and processes
  • Support risk management and security assessment activities across classified and unclassified systems
