About The Position

The Senior Tax Associate – State Tax Transformation role is a hybrid position focused on leading tax transformation initiatives. This involves leveraging automation, AI, and data analytics to streamline tax processes, improve efficiency, and enhance data quality within the Tax function. The role requires analyzing and managing large, complex data sets to support various tax compliance areas, including Sales & Use Tax, Informational Reporting (Forms 1099, W-2), and other federal and state reporting requirements. Responsibilities include reviewing transactions, determining appropriate tax treatment, resolving tax issues with stakeholders, and administering tax technology solutions. The position also involves partnering with cross-functional teams (Finance, Procurement, IT, business stakeholders) to optimize tax data, automate workflows, and implement scalable process improvements. Additionally, the role supports Tax audits by preparing analyses, maintaining documentation, responding to auditor requests, and strengthening processes and controls based on audit outcomes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, Information Systems, or a related discipline required.
  • 3–5 years of State & Local Tax (SALT) experience.
  • Proficiency in any one or more of these State Tax areas is a plus: Premium, Income, Withholding, Unemployment, Informational Reporting, Sales & Use, Personal Property Taxes.
  • Demonstrated success implementing tax automation, AI, or technology-driven process improvements that increased efficiency, improved accuracy, and reduced manual effort.
  • Proven ability to analyze, manipulate, and transform large data sets into meaningful tax and business insights for compliance, reporting, and business decision-making.
  • Experience supporting Tax audits.
  • Experience operating within a mature corporate tax function supporting high transaction volumes, multiple legal entities, and complex compliance requirements.
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query, Pivot Tables, XLOOKUP, Power Pivot, and advanced data analysis techniques.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft 365, including Excel, SharePoint, Power Platform, Word, and PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated experience leveraging tax automation, AI, Bots, Claude and analytics tools to improve tax operations, streamline processes, and enhance reporting.
