About The Position

The Technology & Infrastructure (T&I) group is a specialized team of approximately 20 investment professionals that fosters teamwork, self-empowerment, and work/life balance. As a Senior Associate within the T&I group, you will be a critical member of the team, leading new deal underwriting, approval, and loan closing processes, managing a portfolio of existing borrower accounts, and mentoring junior team members. This role offers interaction with senior credit officers, the capital markets group, private equity sponsors, company management, and other industry partners. Periodic travel opportunities for borrower meetings and industry events are available.

Requirements

  • BS/BA degree, preferably in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related business field.
  • 5-7 years of work experience in an Accounting/Finance/Banking-related position (or a Master’s degree and 1-3 years).
  • Experience working in sponsor finance or on leveraged loan transactions.
  • Ability to answer unstructured business questions and work independently to drive tasks to completion.
  • Strong analytical skills and proficiency with financial statements.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to work well with others and on teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills.
  • Financial modeling experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Tech or infrastructure industry experience at an investment bank or other institution.
  • Graduate of a formalized credit training program.
  • CFA or CPA professional certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the new deal underwriting and diligence process, including identifying key risks, reviewing data room materials, leading diligence calls, and conducting independent research.
  • Mentor and oversee junior deal team members (Analysts & Associates) and their work, including financial projection models.
  • Manage the internal approval process, ensuring timely completion of investment committee write-ups and adherence to underwriting policies.
  • Lead investment committee approval meetings and answer diligence-related questions.
  • Review and negotiate closing legal documents with borrowers and/or sponsors.
  • Manage the internal loan closing process (including KYC) for a smooth and timely closing.
  • Act as a key touchpoint for management and/or sponsors for existing borrowers, including conducting quarterly update calls.
  • Mentor junior team members on best practices for portfolio management.
  • Oversee and ensure appropriate borrower risk ratings, timely receipt of financials, accuracy of compliance certificates, and proper maintenance of credit files.
  • Ensure accurate entry of borrower financials and credit KPIs into the bank’s internal portfolio management software.
  • Complete quarterly, semi-annual, and/or annual reviews.
  • Adhere to Webster's internal portfolio management policies and procedures.
  • Provide a higher level of involvement/management on problem credits.
  • Lead all upsizes/amendments/waivers for existing borrowers.
