Senior Associate Scientist, Functional Genomics

SanofiCambridge, MA
Hybrid

About The Position

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative scientist to join the Functional Genomics cluster within the Target, Disease, and Systems Biology function in Sanofi Research. They will drive the application of functional genomics target ID and validation to advanced disease models in order to elucidate disease mechanisms and discover novel targets across immunology, ophthalmology, neurology, oncology, and rare disease. The successful candidate will collaborate closely with therapeutic area colleagues to advance functional genomics target discovery and validation and develop new screening workflows in advanced disease models including primary cells, iPSC-derived cells, and co-culture/organoid systems. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of functional genomics, in vitro modelling, and disease biology to advance therapeutic target discovery. Join the engine of Sanofi’s mission — where deep immunoscience meets bold, AI-powered research. In R&D, you’ll drive breakthroughs that could turn the impossible into possible for millions.

Requirements

  • B.S. in biology or related field with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
  • Hands-on experience in CRISPR genome editing or screening and disease modeling, especially in primary cells, is key.
  • Excellent communication, organizational, and team skills with a track record of success working collaboratively across disciplines.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in target or drug discovery, especially in immunology, ophthalmology, or neurology, would be highly valued.
  • Experience with molecular and biochemical assays, such PCR/qRT-PCR/NGS, western blot, and flow cytometry.

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments including pooled and arrayed CRISPR screens in human cellular disease models to validate targets and understand mechanism of action.
  • Collaborate with senior researchers to develop and execute existing and novel cell-based assays to identify, validate, and translate high-value targets in diverse clinical indications.
  • Develop cellular and molecular assays to study disease processes and validate targets in innovative disease models such as primary or iPSC-derived cells, co-culture systems, or organoids.
  • Innovate in functional genomics technology by refining, scaling, or automating experimental methodologies to systematically explore gene function in disease contexts.
  • Collaborate closely with therapeutic area experts to advance target discovery and in vitro disease modeling.
  • Communicate your work in verbal, written and presentation formats.

Benefits

  • high-quality healthcare
  • prevention and wellness programs
  • at least 14 weeks’ gender-neutral parental leave
