Our McKesson Brands private label business is seeking a Senior Associate Product Development Manager to join our team in Richmond, VA. This hybrid role provides an opportunity to support meaningful product development work that impacts both caregivers and patients across the healthcare continuum. To support the hybrid nature of this role, our preferred candidate will live within roughly one hour of Richmond, VA. This proximity ensures smooth participation in monthly team meetings and occasional onsite collaboration. Please note that relocation assistance is not provided for this position. Position Description: The McKesson Brands Senior Associate Product Development Manager plays a key supporting role in the development, enhancement, and ongoing management of medical and healthcare products. This position contributes to moving products from concept through launch by coordinating activities, gathering data, managing line extensions, and ensuring alignment with McKesson Brands’ strategic objectives. This role works closely with cross-functional partners—including Sourcing, Quality Assurance, Brand Management, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Finance, and Compliance—to support project execution and help deliver high-quality, customer-focused products to our portfolio. Hybrid Work Expectations: This role operates in a hybrid capacity based in Richmond, VA. To support collaboration and team culture, the following onsite expectations apply: Monthly onsite requirement: Attendance at our in-office team meeting on the last Wednesday of every month . Additional onsite needs: Approximately 1–2 additional visits per month for supplier meetings, product sample reviews, or other key collaboration activities. Candidate Location: Ideally within 60 miles of Richmond ; exceptional candidates up to ~75 miles may also be considered due to the limited number of required in-person days.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of relevant experience

Nice To Haves

  • 2 years’ experience in product development processes with the ability to support projects from concept through launch.
  • Healthcare or medical device experience is a plus.
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to help translate customer needs into actionable requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and timelines in support of broader project execution.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams, including Sourcing, Category Management, Finance, Legal, Supply Chain, Marketing, and Sales.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage shifting priorities.
  • Basic understanding of supply chain operations with a willingness to learn financial, regulatory, and compliance considerations.
  • Comfort working in a regulated environment and adhering to quality standards.
  • Strong communication skills, especially when coordinating supplier touchpoints and sample review activities.
  • Curious, proactive mindset with a desire to learn product development best practices and understand customer and supplier dynamics.
  • Familiarity with healthcare market trends and competitive landscape is a plus.
  • Basic project coordination skills; experience with project management tools preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint with the ability to develop clear reports and presentations.
  • BA/BS in business, marketing, engineering, or a related field required; MBA a plus

Responsibilities

  • Support New Product Ideation and Market Analysis
  • Assist in researching and evaluating new product opportunities by collecting market data, assessing competitive offerings, and gathering insights from sales teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Help prepare documentation and contribute to building business cases.
  • Assist in New Product Development Activities
  • Coordinate with cross-functional teams to collect requirements, track progress, and maintain project documentation.
  • Support communication across internal partners, including Sourcing, Quality, Category Management, Supply Chain, Sales, Marketing, Legal, Finance, and Compliance.
  • Engage in Supplier & Sample Review Activities
  • Participate in supplier touchpoints and assist in preparing for supplier meetings.
  • Support product sample reviews by coordinating logistics, documenting findings, and ensuring next steps are completed.
  • Maintain Project Documentation and Timelines
  • Update trackers and maintain key documents to monitor timeline adherence.
  • Identify risks or delays and escalate to the Product Development leader as appropriate.
  • Portfolio and Funnel Support
  • Monitor the existing product portfolio and gather data for rationalization opportunities.
  • Compile reports and analysis to support strategic decision-making.
  • Partner with Sourcing and Quality Teams
  • Provide coordination support for supplier transitions, compliance checks, and product specification updates.
  • Facilitate Line Extension Projects
  • Manage line extension projects using an accelerated process to expand existing product lines.
  • Gather data, maintain documentation, and coordinate cross-functional inputs to ensure timely execution.
