About The Position

As a member of the Foundations’ Strategy & Impact team, the Senior Associate, Insights & Impact conducts research and analysis that help the Foundations strengthen grantmaking strategy, decision-making, and organizational learning. This role leads discrete analyses and workstreams, synthesizes findings into clear implications, and translates evidence into insights that shape the Foundations' grantmaking and impact.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field (e.g., mathematics, economics)
  • 3+ years of related work experience
  • Demonstrated experience conducting qualitative and quantitative analysis and developing clear written or presentation materials.
  • Takes ownership of assigned workstreams and manages project plans, timelines, and next steps to ensure steady progress.
  • Anticipates challenges, identifies when input or alignment is needed, and follows through with high-quality work.
  • Works flexibly and creatively in a fast-moving, complex environment while managing multiple priorities.
  • Comes up to speed quickly on new content areas and identifies patterns or topics with cross-project relevance.
  • Produces clear, concise, and well-structured work products tailored to audience needs.
  • Presents analysis in a way that builds confidence, advances shared understanding, and supports effective collaboration.
  • Brings intellectual curiosity about social issues, philanthropy, and the nonprofit landscape in the United States.
  • Actively pursues opportunities to deepen content knowledge, strengthen analytical skills, and improve work quality.
  • Applies critical thinking to assess information, test assumptions, and draw out key insights and the “so what."
  • Recommends practical paths forward based on sound judgment, analysis, and project context.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in management consulting preferred.
  • Experience in nonprofit organizations, philanthropy, research, analytics, or strategy-related work valued but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Lead quantitative and qualitative research and analysis, including data analytics, secondary research, interviews, and synthesis of findings, to develop a deep understanding of a sector, region, organization, or issue, including trends, best practices, opportunities, and gaps.
  • Assess the philanthropic and/or nonprofit landscape for a region or issue.
  • Identify broader philanthropic and nonprofit trends and translate them into implications for the Foundations’ work.
  • Contribute to projects that advance best practices in grantmaking, such as tools for program staff and organization-wide learning efforts.
  • Translate findings into strategic insights and potential paths forward for program colleagues and senior leaders.
  • Develop clear, concise, and well-structured work products, including presentations, memos, and data visualizations and interactive reports for leadership and Board audiences.
  • Help scope, structure, and manage research and analysis that inform grantmaking strategies and decisions.
  • Build strong working relationships with program team members and other colleagues through clear communication and facilitation of meetings or working sessions.
