About The Position

The Senior Associate II will join Forvis Mazars’ Next Evolution of Accounting Resourcefulness (NEAR) team, which provides centralized support to the firm’s assurance, tax, and advisory practices. NEAR focuses on lower-risk, repetitive, and sometimes administrative tasks, while training and developing team members to take on more meaningful work and advance their careers and educational credentials. This is a seasonal, fully remote position with flexible hours mutually agreed upon with Forvis Mazars. A commitment of at least 30 hours per week is requested; 40 or more hours per week is preferred. The role primarily augments tax engagement teams by applying tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles to prepare and review individual and trust tax returns, while providing strong internal client service. The position also involves coaching and developing NEAR Associate and Senior Associate I staff through review of their work, managing multiple workflows independently, and delivering timely, quality work.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
At least 3 years of tax accounting experience; experience in a large public accounting environment is preferred.
Supervisory experience.
Tax return review experience.

Nice To Haves

International and state tax return experience.
GoSystem and SurePrep experience.
CCH Axcess experience.
CPA or EA certification.
Prior experience with seasonal tax work.

Responsibilities

Prepare and review individual and trust tax returns.
Apply tax laws, regulations, and accounting principles in support of tax engagement teams.
Provide outstanding internal client service.
Learn and use Forvis Mazars tax technology applications through on-the-job training.
Protect client confidentiality by following Forvis Mazars procedures.
Coach and develop NEAR Associate and Senior Associate I staff by reviewing their work.
Independently manage multiple workflows and deliver quality work on time.
