SUMMARY: The Senior Associate Director assists in directing the management and implementation of the Trachoma Control Program (TCP), including staff, budget preparation, policy formation, and engagement in the development strategy. Working in close collaboration with the Director, this role generally serves as deputy director for overall program management, management of trachoma country staff, and Carter Center institutional management functions, including process improvement, integration, strategic planning, and management. Able to make commitments regarding programmatic activities with other organizations and departments. The position may conduct applied program related research and innovation projects, manage program publications, and hold expert meetings. This position will report to the Director, Trachoma Control Program. Due to the travel locations, Hostile Environment Awareness Training (HEAT) will be required. This position will require periodic travel to Europe, Ethiopia, Niger, South Sudan, Sudan, and possibly other countries that may be added, including sub-Saharan countries, and re-entry into the United States.
