About The Position

Trout CPA is seeking a Senior Accountant to support its nonprofit and grant-funded clients through outsourced accounting and advisory services. In this role, you will work closely with nonprofit leadership teams to manage day-to-day accounting functions, prepare financial reports, monitor grant activity, and support budgeting and forecasting efforts. You will play a key role in helping mission-driven organizations gain financial clarity, remain compliant, and make informed decisions. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field
  • 3+ years of accounting experience, preferably in nonprofit accounting
  • Experience with fund accounting and grant-funded organizations preferred
  • Knowledge of nonprofit financial reporting and grant compliance requirements
  • Experience with QuickBooks Online, Sage Intacct, or similar accounting software
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent communication and client service skills
  • CPA or CPA-track preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and maintain financial records for nonprofit and grant-funded clients
  • Perform fund accounting for restricted and unrestricted funds
  • Assist with grant compliance reporting, allowable cost tracking, and grant reconciliations
  • Prepare monthly financial statements, reports, and account reconciliations
  • Support budgeting, cash flow forecasting, and financial planning activities
  • Develop financial reports and dashboards for management and board meetings
  • Maintain accounting procedures, internal controls, and supporting documentation
  • Collaborate with Executive Directors, finance teams, and external auditors
  • Review and analyze financial data to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
  • Assist with accounting software setup, maintenance, and process improvements
  • Mentor and support team members as needed
