About The Position

Brio Real Estate, a Blackstone Real Estate portfolio company focused on real estate credit, supports Blackstone’s Real Estate Debt Strategies (BREDS) investments globally. Brio provides essential support across corporate, transaction, and management services, enabling effective management of BREDS' global portfolio, which currently holds over $76 billion in investor capital. BREDS is part of Blackstone Real Estate, the world's largest commercial real estate owner. The Capital Markets Associate Transaction Counsel will provide daily legal and logistical support to transactional deal teams, particularly in capital markets. This includes overseeing and managing key aspects of the deal process and document negotiation for secondary capital markets transactions, as well as loan servicing and administration. The role requires excellent business judgment, the ability to clearly communicate risk and propose creative solutions, and a commitment to maintaining Blackstone and Brio's reputation for reasonableness and thoughtfulness. The position will also assist with other corporate, operational, and functional matters as needed.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctorate (JD) and actively licensed to practice in Texas
  • Minimum of 2-4 years of relevant legal experience representing institutional clients
  • Resourceful self-starter, routinely taking initiative
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to a variety of audiences
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Team player that can thrive and lead in a fast-paced, results-oriented work environment
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills

  • Loan Document and real estate due diligence review and negotiation experience

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high quality and clear legal guidance as an integral part of a legal team; ensure Blackstone’s legal priorities and initiatives are addressed.
  • Work closely with various internal teams to streamline asset servicing, custodial deliveries and ensure precise prompt reporting.
  • Partner closely with investment and business professionals to explain and evaluate the legal risks of any transaction, whether they arise in transaction documentation, diligence, or otherwise.
  • Ensure adherence to company legal procedures, governance, risk, and compliance programs.
  • Negotiate, write, review, catalog, and execute business agreements, contracts, and other legal agreements.
  • Report and work closely with Brio Transaction Counsel on company initiatives and organization.
  • Supervise outside counsel, when necessary or appropriate, and assume responsibility for quality and cost of outside legal representation.
