About The Position

We are seeking a Business Platform Product Manager focused on Content Engine & Design to Development who will manage the enterprise content management system (CMS) and drive the evolution of how New York Life creates, manages, and delivers content as a strategic enterprise asset. This role enables content as a product. Content drives brand visibility and deepens consumer and advisor connection — becoming increasingly personalized with emerging agentic and generative AI capabilities. You will ensure the enterprise CMS and surrounding capabilities are architected not just for today’s digital properties, but for the next generation of content-driven experiences. Your focus areas span the Content Engine (headless CMS, content-as-a-service, creative-to-publish lifecycle, knowledge graph, LLM discoverability) and Design-to-Development (translating experience designs and design language systems into production-ready components). You will bring delivery discipline, solutioning rigor, and a forward-looking perspective on how AI is transforming content operations. What Great Looks Like in This Role A proactive, team-oriented problem solver who brings clarity to complexity. Forward-thinker who can architect content capabilities for today’s channels and tomorrow’s agentic systems, conversational AI, and generative interfaces. Shapes and maintains a prioritized, transparent backlog aligned to business objectives. Strong delivery discipline — commitments are met through structured planning, proactive risk management, and transparent communication. Balances speed, quality, and stakeholder alignment through facilitation and trade-off decisioning. Creates clarity across functions, ensuring the right people are engaged, informed, and empowered to act.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with enterprise CMS platforms, including headless CMS and/or content-as-a-service architectures (e.g., Contentful, Storyblok, Adobe AEM as a Cloud Service, or equivalent).
  • Solid understanding of content modeling, structured content, taxonomy, and metadata — with the ability to translate strategies from content operations and strategy teams into platform requirements.
  • Understanding of how SEO, AEO, and GEO intersect with content architecture and how structure and metadata choices impact discoverability and brand visibility.
  • Forward-looking perspective on AI applied to content operations — how agentic systems and generative interfaces are reshaping content delivery and consumption.
  • Experience enabling design-to-development workflows, including design systems, design language governance, component libraries, and structured engineering handoff.
  • Analytical mindset — experience defining and tracking content operations KPIs (speed-to-publish, reuse rates, throughput, discoverability) and using data to drive prioritization.
  • Delivery-focused — proven track record of shipping platform capabilities through agile delivery.
  • Strong facilitator who drives clarity, consensus, and accountability across creative, business, and technical teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills across technical and business audiences.
  • Bachelor’s Degree, or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 7+ years of relevant experience, with 5+ years specializing in enterprise CMS, content platforms, or digital product delivery with a content focus.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with knowledge graph concepts and their application to content ecosystems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Enablement Strategy, Architecture, & Associated Roadmap
  • Partner with Business Product Managers and the AI Product Manager to understand business capability priorities, experience visions, and the AI roadmap — then shape how content and design-to-development platform capabilities are solutioned to enable their outcomes.
  • Define and maintain the platform vision for the enterprise CMS (headless, content-as-a-service) and a modern design-to-development pipeline — architecting both for today’s digital properties and for emerging agentic, conversational, and generative interfaces.
  • Research and evaluate emerging capabilities — knowledge graphs for semantic discovery, AI-assisted authoring and content assembly, AI-accelerated design-to-dev tooling, and evolving SEO/AEO/GEO requirements — and translate findings into platform requirements.
  • Translate business needs into content platform solutions: creative-to-publish lifecycle (ideation through multi-channel publish with AI at each stage), content models and taxonomy, design-to-development handoff standards, and LLM discoverability.
  • Identify and onboard solutions and tools to enable content and design-to-development strategies defined by Content Operations, Content Strategy, and Design teams.
  • Develop and maintain documentation of the content and design-to-development architecture — showing how capabilities integrate with the broader business and MarTech architecture, including downstream personalization, activation, and analytics platforms.
  • Partner with content operations to establish content-as-a-product governance within the architecture: lifecycle ownership, quality standards, and reuse patterns.
  • Maintain a prioritized enablement roadmap that sequences content engine and design-to-development capabilities based on business impact, downstream dependencies, and alignment to broader platform roadmaps.
  • Backlog Planning & Enablement
  • Partner with Product Managers and Product Designers to understand business priorities and identify platform and capability needs.
  • Own the backlog: define, groom, and prioritize based on business impact, cross-team dependencies, and architectural sequencing.
  • Delivery & Execution
  • Partner with Technology and AI & Data teams to lead the delivery process for content engine and design-to-development capabilities.
  • Manage sprint planning, feature delivery, and risk escalation — ensuring trade-offs are transparent and data-informed.
  • Balance business expectations and technical feasibility through clear communication and proactive alignment.
  • User Acceptance & Quality
  • Partner with the UAT team to validate deliverables meet defined business and user expectations.
  • Guide test script creation and prioritization; support triage and resolution of defects.
  • Ensure deployment readiness through collaboration with key stakeholders.
  • Platform & Vendor Collaboration
  • Partner with leaders to facilitate platform evaluations and vendor RFPs, ensuring scalability, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with strategy.
  • Influence vendor roadmaps to support evolving business needs and enterprise goals.

  • We provide a full package of benefits for employees – and have unique offerings for a modern workforce, including leave programs, adoption assistance, and student loan repayment programs.
  • Based on feedback from our employees, we continue to refine and add benefits to our offering, so that you can flourish both inside and outside of work.
