About The Position

This role is for a Senior Associate, Billing within the Invoicing, Fees & Commissions team at Goldman Sachs & Co. LLC in Salt Lake City, Utah. The position involves supporting internal audit and regulatory reporting through meticulous documentation and control of the fee and interest calculation process. The associate will manage the complete lifecycle of calculating, validating, and reconciling financing costs, accrued interest, and trade-related fees for hedge fund and institutional clients. Key functions include ensuring precise application of negotiated fee schedules, margin interest rates, and commission structures, adhering to client agreements and internal policies. This involves reviewing client rate letters, resolving discrepancies, handling charge-related inquiries, and collaborating with departments like Finance, Sales, Client Services, and Technology. The role also requires regular monitoring of interest accruals across various product types (e.g., equity and fixed income financing, stock loan activity) to guarantee timely and accurate client charges. Additionally, the associate will contribute to system enhancements, user acceptance testing (UAT), and automation efforts to boost operational efficiency and reporting accuracy.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree (U.S. or foreign equivalent) in Finance, Business Analytics, Management Information Systems, Mathematics, or a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role.
  • Two (2) years of experience reconciling daily and monthly interest accruals for client accounts, ensuring 100% accuracy in billing and financial reporting.
  • Two (2) years of experience maintaining and updating complex client-specific rate structures and fee schedules in billing systems.
  • Two (2) years of experience querying large transactional datasets and using Microsoft Excel VBA (Macros).
  • Two (2) years of experience resolving high-value ($500K+) interest and fee disputes by identifying root causes in system-calculated charges.
  • Two (2) years of experience producing, maintaining, and controlling detailed, audit-ready reports and billing summaries using tools and platforms including Alteryx.
  • Two (2) years of experience participating in the preparation of documentation and evidence packages for internal audits and external regulatory reviews, ensuring adherence to reporting standards and reducing compliance risk.

Responsibilities

  • Support internal audit and regulatory reporting by maintaining appropriate documentation and controls over the fee and interest calculation process.
  • Responsible for the end-to-end process of calculating, validating, and reconciling financing costs, accrued interest, and trade-related fees for hedge fund and institutional clients.
  • Ensure the accurate application of negotiated fee schedules, margin interest rates, and commission structures, in accordance with client agreements and internal policies.
  • Perform detailed reviews of client rate letters.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies.
  • Manage queries related to charges.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders such as, Finance, Sales, Client Services, and Technology.
  • Regularly monitor interest accruals across multiple product types—such as equity and fixed income financing and stock loan activity—and ensures all client charges are complete, accurate, and delivered within stipulated timelines.
  • Participate in system enhancements, user acceptance testing (UAT), and automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency and reporting accuracy.
