About The Position

The Senior Associate, Asset Management (Debt) is responsible for the active oversight and performance monitoring of a portfolio of commercial real estate debt investments, with a primary focus on construction loans. This role is involved across the full loan lifecycle, from initial funding and construction progress through stabilization and repayment, and plays a key role in managing risk, ensuring borrower compliance, and protecting investor capital. The position requires strong analytical capability, sound judgment, and proactive communication with both internal stakeholders and external partners, including borrowers, consultants, and service providers.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in real estate, Finance, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong analytical and critical‑thinking skills with the ability to assess complex financial and asset‑level risks.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present information clearly and concisely.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship‑management capabilities.
  • High attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational discipline.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including advanced Excel skills

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in commercial real estate lending, asset management, construction financing, property management, or a related field preferred.
  • Exposure to construction or transitional assets is considered an asset.
  • experience with macros, VBA, or portfolio management systems is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Review, interpret, and apply loan documentation to ensure borrower compliance with all terms, covenants, milestones, reporting requirements, and representations.
  • Actively monitor assigned loan portfolios, identifying potential risks or deviations from approved business plans and escalating issues as appropriate.
  • Review borrower draw requests in conjunction with reports from third‑party project monitors and provide recommendations for construction loan advances in accordance with approved policies and procedures.
  • Oversee loan performance from initial funding through construction, stabilization, and repayment.
  • Assess asset‑level performance relative to loan documents, collateral position, and approved business plans.
  • Prepare and maintain timely and accurate updates within the Asset Management database and related reporting systems.
  • Perform portfolio‑level analysis, stress testing, and data integrity reviews to support risk management and strategic decision‑making.
  • Participate in the identification and management of watch‑list or higher‑risk assets.
  • Assist in the preparation of internal updates, investment committee materials, investor reporting, presentations, and ad‑hoc analyses, as required.
  • Build and maintain effective working relationships with internal teams and external stakeholders to support clear, transparent, and timely communication on asset performance.
  • Collaborate closely with Origination, Loan Administration, Finance, and external advisors to ensure alignment and execution throughout the loan lifecycle.
  • Support the oversight of lender‑controlled, challenged, or foreclosed assets, including coordination with property managers, consultants, and legal counsel to support stabilization and value preservation.
  • Support the AVP, Asset Management with special projects and ad‑hoc initiatives as required.
  • Adhere to all Company policies, procedures, and internal control requirements.
