About The Position

Weymouth Country Club is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented, and team-focused Senior Assistant Golf Course Superintendent to support the daily maintenance and conditioning of our championship golf course and club grounds. This position plays a key leadership role within the Golf Course Maintenance Department and works directly alongside the Head Golf Course Superintendent to execute agronomic programs, supervise staff, and maintain exceptional playing conditions and presentation standards throughout the property. The ideal candidate is a driven turf professional with strong leadership skills, a hands-on work ethic, and a passion for delivering premier golf course conditions and member experiences.

Requirements

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Turfgrass Management, Agronomy, Horticulture, or related field preferred.
Minimum 2–4 years of golf course maintenance experience, preferably at a private club or high-end daily fee facility.
Prior supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
Knowledge of turfgrass management practices, irrigation systems, and pesticide applications.
Ohio pesticide applicator license (or ability to obtain within a specified timeframe).
Strong communication, organization, and problem-solving skills.
Ability to work early mornings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours during peak season.
Valid driver’s license required.

Responsibilities

Assist in planning and executing all daily golf course maintenance operations.
Maintain exceptional playing conditions for greens, tees, fairways, rough, bunkers, and practice facilities.
Supervise and participate in mowing, course setup, irrigation, fertilization, aerification, topdressing, spraying, and cultural practices.
Monitor turf health, moisture levels, disease pressure, and overall course conditions.
Assist with landscape maintenance and enhancement projects throughout the property.
Ensure all work is completed safely, efficiently, and to club standards.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, scheduling, and supervision of maintenance staff.
Lead daily crew assignments and communicate expectations clearly and professionally.
Promote a positive, accountable, and team-oriented work culture.
Train team members on proper equipment operation, safety procedures, and maintenance standards.
Serve as acting department leader in the absence of the Head Superintendent.
Assist in management and troubleshooting of the irrigation system, including hand watering and moisture management practices.
Monitor and adjust irrigation scheduling based on weather and course conditions.
Coordinate with equipment technicians regarding maintenance and repair needs.
Ensure equipment and maintenance facilities remain clean, organized, and operational.
Support club-wide initiatives focused on elevating member satisfaction and course presentation.
Maintain a professional appearance and positive attitude when interacting with members and guests.
Collaborate with Golf Operations and Club Leadership to support tournaments, outings, and member events.
