About The Position

The Endoscopy Operating Unit, part of Medical Surgical, has created a business out of disrupting the status quo in the detection, prevention, and treatment of gastrointestinal cancers and chronic diseases. The Senior Area Innovation Manager (AIM) is a field-based individual contributor commercial leadership role within Medtronic Endoscopy, responsible for accelerating adoption and sustained utilization of Medtronic’s AI-powered GI Genius™ platform. AIM’s lead through influence and serve as a customer-facing Software as a Medical Device (SaMD) commercial specialist, partnering with enterprise health systems, MSOs, IDNs, hospitals, ambulatory surgery centers, and physician practices to drive technology integration, clinical adoption, and long-term value realization. The AIM operates as a subject matter expert in AI-enabled endoscopy, aligning internal cross-functional teams and external stakeholders to advance strategic growth initiatives. This individual will lead enterprise customer -level sales and market development efforts, expand installed base utilization, and transfer best practices to the broader commercial organization to scale impact nationally. Significant travel required (up to 75%). The ideal candidate demonstrates a natural commercial leadership presence with the credibility to engage and influence executive stakeholders. They can effectively connect clinical, technical, and financial value propositions to drive strategic decision-making and business outcomes. They bring a growth mindset and entrepreneurial approach, thriving in a large enterprise environment while identifying new opportunities and driving innovation. Additionally, they are passionate about advancing AI-enabled healthcare solutions and leveraging emerging technologies to improve patient care and healthcare delivery. This Senior AIM should be based in Columbus, OH or Cleveland, OH, or Pittsburgh, PA, or Detroit, MI and will cover a region including Ohio, Michigan and Western PA.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma (or equivalent) and 8+ years OR Associate's Degree and 6+ years OR Bachelor's Degree and 4+ years of relevant experience in sales, clinical, or related roles within medical devices, med tech, healthcare, or life sciences

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree, MBA or advanced business degree preferred.
  • 7+ years of experience in complex, quota-driven commercial roles with demonstrated consistent top-tier performance.
  • Enterprise-level solution selling experience in healthcare technology, software (SaaS), or Software as a Medical Device (SaMD).
  • Proven track record of exceeding sales quotas and recognition as top performer (e.g., President’s Club or equivalent).
  • Experience leading multi-stakeholder, long-cycle sales within IDNs, MSOs, hospitals, or ASC networks.
  • Strong clinical and business acumen, with ability to articulate economic and operational value to executive audiences.
  • Experience selling into procedural or physician-driven clinical environments.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate independently, manage ambiguity, and lead cross-functional initiatives.
  • Proficiency in Salesforce CRM and Microsoft O365.
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and executive communication skills.
  • For Baccalaureate degrees earned outside of the United States, a degree that satisfies the requirements of 8 C.F.R. § 214.2(h)(4)(iii)(A) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Achieve and exceed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales objectives by driving enterprise customer-level adoption and utilization of Medtronic AI and software-based GI platforms.
  • Lead complex, multi-stakeholder sales cycles across MSO/IDN headquarters, hospitals, and ASC networks, including executive-level negotiations and enterprise contracting.
  • Serve as a commercial expert in Software as a Medical Device (SaMD), including workflow integration, clinical adoption, utilization growth, and long-term customer success.
  • Maintain deep expertise in artificial intelligence trends in healthcare, competitive dynamics, and macroeconomic forces shaping AI adoption.
  • Position GI Genius as the market-leading AI platform through delivery of compelling clinical, operational, and economic value narratives.
  • Develop and execute territory-level growth strategies to expand installed base penetration, utilization, and customer lifetime value.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with marketing, health economics, clinical, operations, and executive leadership to accelerate deal progression and remove adoption barriers.
  • Act as a catalyst for organizational learning by transferring product, selling, and adoption best practices to the broader sales force.
  • Build and maintain executive-level relationships with health system leaders, physicians, service line administrators, and key opinion leaders.
  • Deliver solution-oriented strategies that address customer-specific workflow, economic, and clinical needs.
  • Demonstrate mastery of GI Genius clinical evidence, disease pathways, algorithm development principles, and real-world performance data.
  • Deliver clinical product demonstrations, physician education, and on-site adoption support to ensure proficiency and sustained utilization.
  • Maintain fluency in current and emerging clinical literature relevant to AI-assisted endoscopy, articulating evidence regardless of outcome or positioning.
  • Serve as a trusted clinical and technical resource to customers throughout evaluation, implementation, and post-install optimization.
  • Maintain disciplined CRM usage, pipeline management, forecasting accuracy, and opportunity progression visibility.
  • Complete administrative responsibilities including reporting, expense management, and training compliance with consistency and timeliness.
  • Operate with full adherence to Medtronic policies, compliance standards, and Code of Conduct.
