We are seeking a Senior Area Director to provide hands-on leadership, oversight, and strategic execution across assigned residential and/or day program services. This field-based role plays a critical part in driving compliance, quality outcomes, operational performance, and team development across multiple markets.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Services, Healthcare, or related field required
  • Minimum 1 year of direct experience supporting individuals with intellectual or developmental disabilities.
  • 3–5 years of progressive leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Experience with person-centered planning, IPPs, or PDPs preferred.
  • Experience participating in regulatory surveys, audits, or inspections.
  • Strong servant leadership and coaching ability.
  • Demonstrated experience managing staffing, scheduling, compliance, and performance outcomes.
  • High level of accountability and operational discipline.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Ability to travel regularly within assigned markets.

Responsibilities

  • Provide hands-on leadership, oversight, and strategic execution across assigned residential and/or day program services.
  • Ensure safe, compliant, and high-quality service delivery across assigned programs (group homes, host homes, and/or day programs).
  • Translate organizational strategy into measurable regional outcomes.
  • Serve as a regional mentor and operational partner to Area Directors and Day Program Managers, fostering consistency, collaboration, census growth, and excellence in person-centered services.
  • Support regional strategic planning, growth initiatives, and community engagement in partnership with cross-functional leaders.
  • Translate corporate objectives into actionable regional goals with clear accountability and timelines.
  • Mentor and coach Area Directors and Day Program Managers to strengthen leadership bench and operational consistency.
  • Support census growth, marketing efforts, and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Conduct monthly site visits to residential and day program locations to assess environmental conditions, life safety compliance, and adherence to policies and procedures.
  • Drive corrective actions and ensure survey/audit readiness at all times.
  • Oversee staffing performance, scheduling, payroll accuracy, overtime reduction, and workforce credential compliance.
  • Recruit, interview, onboard, and ensure effective training and orientation of new hires.
  • Partner with HR on employee investigations and performance management processes.
  • Ensure services align with each individual’s Person-Directed Plan (PDP) and Individual Program Plan (IPP).
  • Monitor progress toward goals, identify regression or progression trends, and recommend plan adjustments or clinical interventions.
  • Coordinate and document Interdisciplinary Team (IDT) meetings.
  • Participate in regulatory surveys/inspections and develop plans of correction when needed.
  • Oversee rights restrictions, trust fund approvals, inventory compliance, and service utilization monitoring.
  • Support incident follow-up and analyze trends impacting care delivery.
  • Partner with Quality Assurance, HR, Clinical, and Operations teams to drive compliance and performance.
  • Facilitate seamless client onboarding and support case management efforts.
  • Collaborate with service coordinators, healthcare providers, and behavioral health partners to ensure integrated, person-centered support.
  • Support temporary and permanent move processes to ensure continuity of care.
