About The Position

Lead the Architectural team in the execution of the strategic direction of the Sheetz Store Design Program. Collaborates and co-leads with department senior management to build and support a high performing design and architectural studio that positions Sheetz for growth and excellence, creating exceptional customer experiences, maximizing sales opportunities, and ensuring the balance of function and aesthetics.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from a NAAB accredited program or a related design field required.
  • Minimum 8 years diversified experience leading and building high performing design teams, preferably in retail required.
  • Minimum 8 years work experience utilizing Revit, AutoCAD and SketchUp required
  • Minimum 8 years’ experience creating and maintaining accurate building plans & architectural drawings required.
  • Minimum 8 years working experience in utilizing building codes, materials, and systems in commercial construction required.
  • Minimum 7 years supervisory experience leading and building high performing teams required.
  • A portfolio of successful projects, in restaurant and/or retail environments, that illustrate relevant experience and qualities required.
  • Registered Architect with current license to practice architecture in a state where Sheetz has retail facilities and an up-to-date certificate from the National Counsel of Architectural Registration Boards.
  • If not currently licensed, clearly demonstrate ability to obtain license in a State where Sheetz has a retail facility and obtain NCARB certification within one (1) calendar year of the date of hire.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Architecture (M. Arch) preferred.
  • Experience managing or involvement in a capital expansion program is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with key internal and external stakeholders to execute the strategic direction of the design of our retail stores, to include present and future store designs.
  • Develop strong internal teams and a positive work environment by setting goals, developing organizational capability, and modeling collaborative work processes as a high performing team.
  • Maximize the development of direct reports through regular performance coaching, performance reviews and presenting development opportunities.
  • Manage, monitor, and adhere to annual budgets for assigned area of responsibility to maximize profitability.
  • Utilize expert level proficiency in construction drawings and administration through oversight in the production of construction documents for new stores and major renovations.
  • Review department produced drawings for completeness & strategic alignment.
  • Develop design programs and scopes of work, in collaboration with senior leadership, for new store designs and major renovations based on input from internal departments.
  • Evaluate building materials, finishes, etc. for cost, energy usage, availability, and code compliance. Recommend and specify all design materials used in the new construction and renovation of facilities.
  • Attend public meetings or meetings with jurisdictions to discuss special architectural requirements as necessary for business.
  • Provide timely direction for the Architectural team reviewing comments from Plan Examiners, and supervision of all responses with Structural, Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing consultants, revise drawings as needed and prepare revised documents necessary to obtain building permits and approvals.
