About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Senior Architectural Millwork Engineer to lead the technical design and engineering of high-end custom millwork projects from concept development through fabrication and installation. The role translates architectural plans, design concepts, and field measurements into accurate, production-ready drawings and engineering packages. It requires extensive experience in architectural millwork, custom cabinetry, and luxury residential interiors, as well as advanced knowledge of CAD drafting, CNC manufacturing, materials, hardware, joinery, and fabrication processes. The engineer will provide technical leadership, mentor junior engineers and drafters, and improve engineering standards, production efficiency, and finished product quality. The position works across project management, design, estimating, CNC programming, production, and installation functions to maintain technical accuracy and project alignment. It also supports quality control and manufacturing planning, resolves design and fabrication challenges, and develops practical solutions for complex custom millwork applications.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of experience in architectural millwork engineering, millwork drafting, or technical design.
  • Extensive experience with custom cabinetry, luxury residential millwork, or high-end architectural interiors.
  • Strong technical background in engineering custom casework, cabinetry, closets, wall systems, countertops, and specialty millwork.
  • Advanced ability to produce detailed, production-ready shop drawings and fabrication documentation.
  • Thorough understanding of CNC manufacturing, woodworking machinery, fabrication methods, and production workflows.
  • Proficiency with millwork design and engineering software such as AutoCAD, Microvellum, Cabinet Vision, AlphaCAM, Rhino, KCD, or similar platforms.
  • In-depth knowledge of millwork materials, hardware systems, joinery techniques, construction methods, and installation practices.
  • Ability to accurately interpret architectural drawings, construction documents, technical specifications, and field dimensions.
  • Experience working directly with manufacturing and installation teams to troubleshoot technical issues and improve constructability.
  • Strong organizational, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and competing deadlines while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience mentoring engineers or drafters, leading technical teams, or overseeing engineering workflows.

Responsibilities

  • Lead engineering and technical development of custom millwork projects from initial design through manufacturing and installation.
  • Prepare, review, and approve shop drawings, fabrication drawings, bills of materials, cut lists, and production documentation.
  • Interpret architectural plans, design specifications, client requirements, and field measurements to create accurate engineering packages.
  • Engineer custom cabinetry, closets, architectural casework, wall paneling, ceilings, countertops, and specialty woodwork.
  • Evaluate designs for manufacturability, material selection, hardware compatibility, joinery methods, and installation requirements.
  • Collaborate with project managers, designers, estimators, CNC programmers, production personnel, and installation teams.
  • Identify and resolve design conflicts, dimensional discrepancies, and fabrication challenges before production begins.
  • Support CNC programming, nesting optimization, and manufacturing planning to improve material utilization and production efficiency.
  • Maintain engineering records and ensure drawings and documentation comply with drafting and manufacturing standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and drafters and promote consistent engineering practices.
  • Support quality control during engineering, fabrication, and field installation.
  • Develop practical engineering solutions for complex custom millwork applications and challenging design requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, drawing standards, production processes, and manufacturing performance.
  • Coordinate engineering revisions and communicate technical changes to relevant project stakeholders.
