Requirements

  • Demonstrated success in both business development and project delivery, with a focus on exceptional project management capabilities
  • Deep experience with Design-Bid-Build and Design-Build delivery models
  • Experience partnering with contractors and multidisciplinary teams on complex pursuits
  • Proven ability to operate as a seller-doer and executive-level project leader
  • Must have a valid driver’s license, good driving record and ability to pass a driving record background check.

Nice To Haves

  • You understand that delivery method shapes strategy—and you know how to lead in both DBB and DB environments
  • You bring credibility with both clients and contractor partners
  • You stay engaged beyond the win—owning outcomes through delivery
  • You can move seamlessly between pursuit strategy, client leadership, and project execution
  • You enjoy collaborating across disciplines and leveraging the expertise of the organization

Responsibilities

  • Build and Grow a Market-Facing Practice: Establish and execute a strategy to grow architecture in Colorado in collaboration with Architectural, Regional, and Segment leadership. Build a strong, opportunity-driven pipeline across public-sector markets. Position architecture as a critical component of integrated, multidisciplinary solutions.
  • Lead Business Development with Delivery in Mind: Develop and expand relationships with public agencies. Lead capture strategies for pursuits across Design-Bid-Build (DBB) and Design-Build (DB) delivery. Partner with contractors, engineers, and joint venture teams in Design-Build pursuits. Shape proposals that are not only compelling—but executable.
  • Deliver Across Design-Build and Design-Bid-Build: Serve as Principal-in-Charge, Project Executive, or Senior Project Manager on key projects in both Denver and beyond, in support of Dewberry’s Architectural practice. Guide teams through the nuances of various project delivery models—risk allocation, schedule compression, stakeholder coordination, and decision-making. Ensure alignment between design intent, technical execution, and client expectation.
  • This role is intentionally balanced—you will: Carry client relationships from pursuit through execution. Stay engaged in a project leadership position post-award to maintain continuity and trust. Use delivery experience to inform smarter pursuit strategies. Build a reputation for both winning work and delivering it successfully—especially in complex, alternative delivery environments.
  • Leverage a National Platform: Collaborate with architecture and engineering teams across the country to support project opportunities. Bring national best practices and deep subject matter expertise to the Denver market. Contribute local insight to firmwide strategies and major pursuits.
  • Build and Lead a High-Performing Team: Recruit and develop talent capable of delivering across multiple project delivery methods. Foster a culture of collaboration, accountability, and design excellence. Align team structure with backlog, pipeline, and delivery demands. Collaborate with the larger architecture practice and leverage deep engineering expertise to delivery quality work.

Benefits

  • Seller-doer leadership model: Stay connected to both clients and projects
  • Integrated delivery expertise: Grow your impact across DBB and DB environments
  • National scale, local focus: Backing of a multidisciplinary firm with deep technical resources
  • Client-centered culture: Long-term relationships built on trust and performance
  • Meaningful work: Projects that shape infrastructure, civic spaces, and communities
