The Senior Architect Data Engineer will be part of the growing Databricks Center of Excellence, leading Databricks projects and helping drive the data practice’s business and operational goals. The role provides architecture and engineering guidance to clients and internal teams, supports business development and sales pursuits, and leads complex implementation, migration, and modernization engagements. The position is remote within the United States. The role also involves developing and overseeing large-scale data architectures using Databricks features and products, advising clients on data strategy and digital transformation, and guiding engineering teams toward client objectives. The architect will lead project risk management and delivery planning, develop proposals and statements of work, and mentor others while recommending technologies aligned with client strategies and business outcomes. Requirements

Strong experience in data engineering or architecture.
Extensive hands-on experience with Databricks, including Delta Lake, Delta Live Tables, and Unity Catalog.
Mastery of big data platforms, cloud data warehouses, and object-oriented programming.
Expertise in NoSQL databases, container management systems, and AI/ML tools.
Understanding of Databricks platform and governance capabilities sufficient to design customized data platform solutions for client business needs.
Demonstrable industry experience designing and delivering data and AI platform solutions that enable business value.
Experience delivering large-scale migrations and modernization initiatives from legacy data warehouses to the Databricks Lakehouse platform.

Responsibilities

Collaborate with data leaders to advance sales, recruiting, account management, consulting, and operational excellence across the practice.
Lead Databricks projects as part of the Databricks Center of Excellence and serve as a Databricks subject-matter expert.
Support business development and guide clients on best practices in architecture, data engineering, and scalable analytics.
Manage project risks, including planning, budgeting, deliverables, and executive-level alignment.
Develop proposals, statements of work, and strategies to grow the company’s presence within existing accounts.
Provide technical and architectural guidance on Databricks, modern data platforms, and cloud-native solutions to clients and internal team members.
Mentor others and recommend emerging technologies and tools that align with client goals and future-state data strategies.
Develop and oversee large-scale data architecture projects using Databricks features such as Delta Lake, Iceberg, Delta Live Tables, and Unity Catalog.
Provide leadership and strategic direction to engineering teams, aligning their work with client objectives and effective use of Databricks features.
Advise clients on digital transformation and data strategy, including how to use Databricks effectively.
Lead Databricks implementation sales and presales pursuits as a Sales Solution Lead or Lead Architect, crafting tailored proposals.
Lead large Databricks migration and modernization delivery engagements as a Delivery Solution Lead, managing a team of data architects and engineers.
Drive business-focused, technology-enabled outcomes and innovation through team-based work.
