About The Position

Amazon Web Services (AWS) is seeking a Senior Applied AI Solutions Architect to support Federal Financial Regulatory customers in the Arlington, VA and Washington, DC area. This role involves helping federal financial regulators leverage artificial intelligence and machine learning to advance their missions, focusing on areas like fraud detection, market surveillance, regulatory reporting, and consumer protection. AWS is at the forefront of applying AI and ML to complex regulatory challenges in the cloud, including automating workflows, extracting insights from unstructured data, and building intelligent systems. The position requires a deep understanding of modern AI patterns and architectures, such as agentic systems, retrieval-augmented generation (RAG), and intelligent document processing, to help customers build production-ready solutions. The role involves working closely with other Solutions Architects, providing technical guidance, developing white papers and reference architectures, and creating field enablement materials. Candidates must have strong technical experience in AI/ML/deep learning/generative AI, a background in a related technical discipline, and excellent communication skills to engage with customers at all levels. Previous AWS experience is desired but not required if the candidate has experience building large-scale AI/ML solutions. The role offers the opportunity to work with senior engineers and influence roadmaps. This position requires U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Requirements

  • Deep technical experience working with technologies related to artificial intelligence, machine learning, deep learning, or generative AI.
  • Strong background in statistics, mathematics, computer science, or a related technical discipline is preferred.
  • Experience helping customers architect enterprise-grade AI/ML solutions.
  • Familiarity with modern AI patterns and architectures (agentic systems, retrieval-augmented generation, intelligent document processing, conversational AI, classification/anomaly detection).
  • Familiarity with the broader ecosystem of AI/ML tooling.
  • Comfort operating in Python data science environments.
  • Ability to leverage Python knowledge to help AWS customers evaluate approaches and build production-ready solutions.
  • Outstanding communication skills.
  • Deeply technical with the ability to engage AWS customers at any level — from agency executives to data scientists and developers.
  • 8+ years of specific technology domain areas (e.g. software development, cloud computing, systems engineering, infrastructure, security, networking, data & analytics) experience.
  • 3+ years of design, implementation, or consulting in applications and infrastructures experience.
  • 10+ years of IT development or implementation/consulting in the software or Internet industries experience.
  • Associate's degree or above, or CASP+ (CompTIA Advanced Security Practitioner) or CCSP (Certified Cloud Security Professional) or Cloud+ or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional).

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience with AWS is desired but not required, provided you have experience building large-scale AI/ML solutions.
  • 5+ years of infrastructure architecture, database architecture and networking experience.
  • Knowledge of SAP systems (like SAP Business Suite, S/4HANA, SAP Business Warehouse, SAP HANA, SAP Business Objects, etc.) and their architecture and infrastructure needs.
  • Experience working with end user or developer communities.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the Subject Matter Expert (SME) for designing applied AI solutions for federal financial regulatory agencies.
  • Help agencies automate workflows, accelerate decision-making, and drive down costs using AI/ML.
  • Collaborate with Specialist and Generalist Solutions Architects to enable large-scale customer use cases and drive AI/ML adoption.
  • Provide technical guidance on AI/ML engagements to customers and field SAs.
  • Develop white papers, reference architectures, and presentations to enable customers and partners to leverage applied AI on AWS.
  • Create field enablement materials for the broader SA population to help them integrate AI solutions into customer architectures.
  • Work directly with senior engineers at customers, partners, and AWS service teams to influence roadmaps and drive innovation.
