About The Position

TetraScience is seeking a Senior Applied AI/ML Engineer to join their team. This role is responsible for designing, developing, training, and validating AI/ML products. The engineer will support and advise executive leadership on technical and commercial feasibility, and work with commercial teams to understand the impact of AI in life sciences. The position involves collaborating with cross-functional teams to build products that organize, contextualize, and make scientific data accessible, with the goal of accelerating the drug discovery process. Specific projects may involve ML-reinforcement learning with large continuous datasets and developing LLM agent harnesses, governance, and evaluation metrics. The role requires the ability to work independently and develop AI/ML applications in at least one of the specified areas. This is a critical team member position in a unique partnership to industrialize Scientific AI, requiring direct customer engagement onsite up to 4-5 days per week in the Boston region.

Requirements

  • Advanced degree in Biological, Data, or Computer Science
  • 10+ years of AI/ML development experience, or 5+ years developing AI/ML tools for commercial life sciences, healthcare, or regulated environments
  • Portfolio demonstrating end-to-end ownership of AI/ML products
  • Proven track record of deploying AI models addressing real world problems
  • Superior talent developing at least one of: ML reinforcement learning, fine tuning, or automated retraining; LLM agentic governance including guardrails and evaluations

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in AI or ML
  • Deep understanding of hurdles facing pharmaceutical drug development
  • Demonstrated ability to make productized applications (for use by more than one group)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to advocate and evangelize for AI initiatives internally and externally
  • Experience collaborating with teams on large software projects
