AT&T has an opening for a Senior Applications Developer to support a professional services program for a US Government customer in the Washington DC metropolitan area. This Senior Applications Developer role will be primarily focused on the design, development, testing and maintenance of specialized applications to meet current and future customer mission requirements. This role requires expertise in full stack application development and integration with multi-vendor applications, virtual environments, as well as the SIP protocol stack. The Senior Application Engineer will work in conjunction with a matrixed team of systems engineers, database administrators, and software developers to design, install, configure, implement, and maintain complex solutions that support the mission objectives of the customer. Seeking a highly motivated individual who demonstrates effective decision making and analytical skills, high attention to detail and a strong communicator. The candidate should be comfortable working independently and with an integrated team to support customer objectives. Position is full-time on customer premise.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in system engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, Math, Information Assurance, Information Security System Engineering, or related discipline from an accredited college or university, a developer nanodegree, or equivalent work experience, is required.
Five (5) years of additional SE experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree.
Minimum of 5 years of working experience designing, developing, implementing and maintaining application systems and solutions of similar scope, type, and complexity.
Experience operating within Agile framework methodologies and the software development lifecycle – design, implementation and deployment.
Proficiency as a full-stack developer with experience in front-end and back-end languages such as Python, Java, Node.js, Javascript, HTML, CSS, SOAP and RESTful APIs, SQL, PHP, JSON, etc.
Familiarity with or prior experience with Session Initiation Protocol (SIP) based real-time IP communication applications.
Development and maintenance of communications-based solutions such as integration of real-time communication technologies (voice, video, messaging) and/or mobility applications.
Experience architecting software solutions involving user interface (UI), data and database management and server-side logic.
Experience in building web applications and designing and integrating RESTful APIs to ensure data flow and or communication exchange information between applications and systems.
Hands on experience with databases like MySQL, PostgreSQL, MongoDB to include data schema design and data interactions to support applications.
Experience working with source code version control systems to track coding revisions and support collaboration such as Git.
Familiar with cyber-security best practices that ensure data integrity and security to protect the application from vulnerabilities including authentication and authorization and encryption.
Strong analytical thinker and problem solver who can efficiently troubleshoot problems, inefficiencies, and performance issues.
Familiar with tools and methods for analyzing, debugging and troubleshooting application issues when they arise and demonstrate ability to diagnose, resolve and optimize application using rigorous logic.
Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional engineering team within the Sponsor’s organization.
Demonstrated commitment to professional development and continuous learning both on and off the job to keep current with technology as well as enhance and develop skill and expertise.

Nice To Haves

Industry certifications in various web design and programming languages, such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, C#, Python and similar certifications. Examples: Oracle Certified Associate/Professional, Java SE, Microsoft Full-Stack Developer Professional Certificate, PCEP/PCAP/PCPP, JSE/JSA/JSPA/JSPB, SIP School Certified Associate (SSCA), Oracle Database SQL Certified Associate/EDB PostgreSQL/MongoDB.
Experience or working knowledge of system virtualization, VMWare or equivalent.
Experience with cloud services and platforms such as AWS, Azure or GCP.
Experience with administration of Linux/Unix systems (RedHat, Rocky, Debian, etc.).
Understand HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and other web technologies.
Familiarity with SIP protocol and communication application framework such as Asterisk.
Firm understanding of network protocols, TCP/IP and VoIP technologies and concepts.

Responsibilities

Code and test new software applications to meet business requirements and user needs.
Design and develop user interfaces that facilitate user experience.
Develop server-side logic, create and manage databases and integrate APIs with front-end.
Design, implement and maintain databases to store and retrieve data efficiently.
Maintain and update existing applications to fix bugs, improve performance, and ensure compatibility with new technologies.
Collaborate with stakeholders to gather and analyze requirements/user stories, creating and maintaining comprehensive documentation.
Conduct code reviews, unit testing, and integration testing, providing technical support and troubleshooting assistance.
Work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver projects on time, managing development projects and staying updated with industry trends and technologies.
