About The Position

Citi is looking for a Senior Application Database Administrator to take ownership of mission-critical Oracle database environments supporting live market data operations within the Markets business unit. In this role, you will design, develop, tune, and sustain high-availability Oracle databases that financial stakeholders depend on daily for time-sensitive, high-value functions. Your work will directly shape the stability, performance, and long-term technical direction of one of Citi's most data-intensive platforms.

Requirements

  • 6 or more years of hands-on experience in database development, design, data modelling, performance tuning, and troubleshooting across large-scale applications.
  • 5 or more years of deep, applied experience with Oracle databases, including schema design, query optimization, and environment management in enterprise-grade production systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage and implement successful technology projects, balancing functional and non-functional requirements across delivery lifecycles.
  • Practical experience with Oracle GoldenGate for data replication and real-time data integration across distributed environments.
  • Working knowledge of Unix and shell scripting to support database automation, environment management, and operational tasks.
  • Experience with Agile and Scrum delivery frameworks and familiarity with CI/CD tooling including Jenkins, Bitbucket, Jira, and deployment automation platforms.
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent professional experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Exposure to modern data technologies including microservices architecture, big data platforms, Hadoop, and cloud storage solutions such as AWS S3.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted tooling and techniques applied within data engineering or database management contexts.
  • Experience providing cross-team technical advisory, including engagement with external vendors and platform teams to define standards and drive resolution of complex issues.
  • Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related discipline.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and optimize Oracle database schemas and data models across non-production and production environments to ensure continuous high availability and peak performance for market-critical applications.
  • Monitor database health proactively using AWR reports and advisory tools, diagnosing and resolving issues before they impact business operations.
  • Lead database performance tuning efforts across large-scale Oracle environments, applying advanced troubleshooting techniques to resolve complex and time-sensitive problems.
  • Architect and implement data management strategies covering migration, masking, archival, and capacity planning to support evolving application and business requirements.
  • Coordinate across application development, DBA, and Oracle vendor teams to deliver timely resolution of critical or previously unseen database issues.
  • Evaluate and introduce new Oracle features, tools, and technologies to continuously improve database stability, scalability, and operational efficiency.
  • Define and enforce database standards and best practices, providing technical advisory to engineering and delivery teams across the organization.
  • Assess and mitigate database-related risks by identifying, prioritizing, and implementing controls in alignment with release and environment management processes.
