About The Position

LCG is seeking a Senior Appian Developer, Senior to support a federal health research environment focused on modernizing and sustaining mission-critical business applications for our client at NIH. This role supports the Client in delivering software development, enhancement, operations and maintenance, and SDLC support for administrative and extramural business processes. The Senior Appian Developer will lead the design, development, testing, deployment, and maintenance of Appian-based solutions in a hybrid Agile environment. This individual will work closely with federal project managers, business stakeholders, architects, QA teams, and cross-functional development teams to deliver secure, scalable, accessible, and compliant applications that improve the collection, processing, and dissemination of management, administrative, and programmatic information. This position requires strong experience with the full software development life cycle, low-code platform development, systems integration, release management, and production support in a regulated federal IT environment.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in software development, with substantial hands-on experience developing enterprise applications on the Appian platform.
  • Backend experience Salesforce.
  • MySQL and Maria DB prior experience.
  • Demonstrated experience across the full SDLC, including requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and O&M support.
  • Experience building workflow-driven and case management solutions in Appian.
  • Experience integrating Appian applications with external systems, databases, APIs, and enterprise services.
  • Experience with defect tracking, requirements management, and release management tools such as ServiceNow, and GitHub.
  • Experience supporting production systems, resolving incidents, and implementing bug fixes and enhancements.
  • Experience working in Agile or hybrid Agile/Waterfall delivery environments.
  • Experience developing documentation such as requirements documents, design specifications, test plans, traceability matrices, and user guides.
  • Familiarity with Section 508 accessibility, quality assurance practices, and secure development standards.
  • Ability to work effectively with technical teams, business users, PMO staff, and federal stakeholders.
  • Appian Certified Senior Developer or Appian Certified Lead Developer
  • One or more current Appian certifications aligned to the candidate’s level of experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Business Information Technology, or a related field required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting federal government clients, especially within NIH, HHS, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Experience with modernization initiatives involving legacy-to-low-code transformation.
  • Experience with Java, .NET, SharePoint, ServiceNow, BP Logix, or RPA platforms in mixed-technology environments.
  • Experience supporting change management, release readiness, and configuration management processes.
  • Experience contributing to ATO support, security documentation, and compliance activities.
  • Master’s degree in a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant cloud, low-code, or federal IT/security certifications are a plus.
  • Salesforce Development Certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, configure, enhance, and maintain Appian applications in support of client business and administrative processes.
  • Translate business and functional requirements into scalable Appian workflows, interfaces, process models, rules, reports, and integrations.
  • Support all SDLC phases including concept, requirements analysis, design, development, testing, deployment, and operations and maintenance.
  • Develop reusable low-code components aligned with modernization goals and enterprise architecture standards.
  • Support iterative development, demonstrations, and in-development testing with business users and federal project managers.
  • Support RPA initiatives – to resolve customer tickets. Previous experience with RPA.
  • Participate in requirements elicitation sessions and help document business, functional, and technical requirements.
  • Contribute to Requirements Management Plans, Requirements Traceability Matrices, system design documents, and related SDLC artifacts.
  • Facilitate design reviews, prototype demonstrations, and user feedback sessions prior to implementation.
  • Recommend technical approaches, alternative solutions, and modernization strategies.
  • Develop and support unit, system, integration, regression, performance, and user acceptance testing activities.
  • Document, track, and resolve defects using approved tools such as, ServiceNow, GitHub, or similar platforms.
  • Ensure solutions meet Section 508 accessibility requirements and support remediation of identified issues.
  • Support quality assurance reviews, validation and verification, and adherence to SDLC standards and best practices.
  • Support release planning, implementation, and migration across development, test, pre-production, and production environments.
  • Prepare release documentation including implementation plans, release notes, and deployment schedules.
  • Follow approved configuration management, change control, and release readiness processes.
  • Maintain code, baselines, and deployment artifacts in approved repositories and tools.
  • Provide production support for Appian applications, including issue triage, root cause analysis, defect resolution, and small enhancements.
  • Monitor and respond to incidents, tickets, and operational issues in coordination with help desk, PMO, infrastructure, and stakeholder teams.
  • Maintain application documentation, user guides, quick reference materials, and system manuals as needed.
  • Support continuous improvement of processes, procedures, and application support practices.
  • Work with project managers, business stakeholders, and other contractors to support project planning, delivery, risk mitigation, and communications.
  • Participate in Agile or hybrid Agile/Waterfall ceremonies, stage gate reviews, change control boards, and release readiness meetings.
  • Contribute to status reporting, technical briefings, and documentation required for federal IT governance and oversight.
  • Provide knowledge transfer and mentoring to team members and stakeholders as needed.
