About The Position

WB Games Montreal, a division of Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment (WBIE), is seeking a Senior Animator. In this role, you will work closely with the Lead Animator and Director group to create high quality animation content for real time gameplay and cinematics for our games. With an end focus on creating high quality content and storytelling, you’ll need to work in collaboration across different disciplines including character, art, technical animation, design, and programming to push the vision forward coherently all while respecting technical constraints and budgets.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in video game development and have worked on at least 1 AAA game.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Strong animation foundations for body mechanics, posing and timing.
• Good animation foundations for facial animation and acting.
• Proficient with 3D animation software (Maya, Motionbuilder, etc.).
• Proficient with the motion capture production process and able to support the pipeline.
• Strong understanding of in-game engines.
• Good technical problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Positive attitude and a desire to bring new ideas to the team.
• Good understanding of the game development process and understanding of art/animation pipelines on PC and consoles.
• Passion for making and playing great games, with an awareness of current titles and industry trends.
• Portfolio/Demo Reel/Website demonstrating your animation skills is required.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with Unreal 5 is a strongly desired asset.
• Experience in combat animation is a desired asset.

Responsibilities

• Responsible for animating characters and bringing life to our games with memorable storytelling under WB branded IPs.
• Be versatile working with motion capture data, keyframe animation, and in-engine manipulation of animation content.
• Work with production and associated departments to prototype new gameplay features.
• Participate in departmental meetings to share feedback while defining the look and feel of content on screen.
• Assist in R&D efforts for tools improvement and evaluation of new technology.
• Deliver tasks on time and on schedule and reviewing content in engine.
• Animation bug fixing and support.
• Provide support to peers, especially to less experienced members of the animation team.
