About The Position

Walmart Global Tech is seeking a Senior Android Engineer to join the Auto Care Center team. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise-scale Android applications that power customer and associate experiences for Auto Care services. The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in modern Android development, large-scale mobile architectures, and building high-quality, maintainable applications. Experience integrating CMS modules into native Android applications is highly preferred.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5–10 years of professional Android development experience.
  • Strong proficiency in Kotlin, Android SDK, Jetpack Compose (or modern Android UI), MVVM, and Android Jetpack components.
  • Experience developing and maintaining large-scale enterprise mobile applications.
  • Experience consuming GraphQL and REST APIs, asynchronous programming with Coroutines, and Git-based development workflows.
  • Strong understanding of software design principles, testing (JUnit/Espresso), and Agile methodologies.
  • Good communication skills and a team player attitude.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • OR 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience integrating CMS modules into native Android applications is highly preferred.
  • Previous experience with Walmart tools such as Tempo, Glass mobile development is a plus.
  • Well-versed in using AI tools such as GitHub CoPilot, ChatGPT and other AI tools to accelerate code generation.
  • Experience with Firebase, analytics, feature flags, CI/CD pipelines, and performance optimization.
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
  • Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain native Android functionality using Kotlin and modern Android best practices.
  • Build scalable, reusable features using MVVM, Jetpack libraries, Kotlin Coroutines, and Clean Architecture principles.
  • Integrate GraphQL and REST APIs and collaborate with backend, product, UX, and QA teams to deliver high-quality features.
  • Implement and maintain CMS-driven content modules within native Android applications.
  • Optimize application performance, reliability, accessibility, and user experience across Android devices.
  • Resolve production issues, tech debt and bugs.
  • Write unit and UI tests, participate in code reviews, and contribute to CI/CD and Agile development practices.
  • Work with AI tools such as GitHub CoPilot, ChatGPT, etc. for code generation in a fast-paced environment.
