Senior Android Engineer - Alarms
About The Position
Verkada is transforming how organizations protect their people and places with an integrated, privacy-sensitive AI-powered platform that includes solutions for video security, access control, air quality sensors, alarms, intercoms, and visitor management. The Alarms team builds systems that detect, verify, and respond to real-world security threats using sensors, cameras, and AI. This role is focused on developing high-quality mobile applications used for real-time monitoring, alerts, and incident response. You will also work on device-facing experiences, including building native Linux-based UIs for embedded products.
Requirements
- 6+ years of software engineering experience
- Experience building mobile applications on both Android and iOS
- Strong understanding of mobile UI/UX patterns and performance considerations
- Experience working with APIs and asynchronous systems
- Product mindset with attention to usability and reliability
Nice To Haves
- Experience building embedded Linux UIs, such as for infotainment systems or other device interfaces (e.g., Qt or similar frameworks)
- Exposure to hardware-integrated products or IoT systems
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain features across Android And iOS mobile applications for the Alarms product
- Develop real-time user experiences for alerts, video, and system status
- Collaborate closely with product, design, backend, and firmware teams
- Write clean, maintainable, and performant code across mobile platforms
- Help shape architecture and technical direction for mobile development
- Contribute to embedded / Linux UI development for hardware products
