About The Position

Robinhood is building an elite team to democratize finance for all by applying frontier technologies to the world’s biggest financial problems. The Robinhood Wallet team's mission is to democratize access to financial services worldwide by leveraging DeFi protocols and Robinhood Chain. They build secure, intuitive, and decentralized products that enable users to custody and manage their digital assets, working at the intersection of traditional finance and web3. The team collaborates closely with product managers, product designers, and backend engineers to deliver highly reliable, high-performance systems. As a Senior Android Engineer, you will build and own new product features for the Robinhood Wallet Android app, developing reliable and secure solutions for a high-quality trading experience. This role involves designing scalable mobile architectures, defining code standards, and maintaining high-quality codebases. You will collaborate with client engineers, backend developers, product designers, and external blockchain partners, and mentor other developers to raise engineering standards. This role is based in Menlo Park, CA or New York, NY, with at least 3 days per week in-office attendance expected.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience developing Android applications.
• Proficiency with Kotlin and/or Java, and a strong grasp of Android SDK and architecture patterns like MVVM.
• Experience using Jetpack Compose, Coroutines & Flow or RxJava, and libraries such as Retrofit and Room.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills with a product-focused perspective.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor peers, lead complex projects, and influence architecture decisions.

Nice To Haves

• Experience working for a DeFi protocol, a crypto wallet company, or another blockchain-related company.
• Familiarity with technologies like EVM blockchains and smart contracts.

Responsibilities

• Build intuitive, elegant, and stable mobile experiences using Kotlin, Jetpack Compose, and modern Android APIs.
• Lead the full lifecycle of product features — from ideation and technical design to implementation, testing, and release.
• Collaborate closely with product managers, product designers, backend engineers, and data scientists to create impactful solutions.
• Champion mobile development standards and code review processes that ensure high quality, scalability, and maintainability.
• Mentor other developers and help elevate team standards and collaboration.
