About The Position

This is an 18-month contract opportunity for an Android Developer to join a supportive Agile team focused on creating easily discoverable, accessible, and engaging sponsorship and ad product experiences across digital offerings and large-scale events. The role is part of the Advertising Experiences team within Digital Products & Innovation, which values collaboration, learning, continuous improvement, and inclusivity. The team aims to build innovative and inclusive experiences for the audience, reflecting the diverse backgrounds and experiences of its members.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of experience in software development in a senior role.
  • In-depth knowledge of Android mobile development in Kotlin.
  • Working knowledge of Compose Multiplatform, Kotlin Multiplatform, and iOS development in Swift with SwiftUI.
  • Experience using REST APIs and Graph Query Language (GQL/GraphQL) to communicate with backend services.
  • Understanding of common architectural and design patterns such as MVVM, Clean Architecture, and Chain of Responsibility.
  • Demonstrated understanding of how to modularize code and its value to development practices.
  • Focus on run-time, code quality, maintainability, testability, and scalability when considering solutions.
  • Experience writing unit tests, integration tests, UI tests, and finding opportunities to automate test runs.
  • Working knowledge of using automated testing platforms for mobile development (e.g., Appium).
  • Familiarity with Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) and experience managing related platforms.
  • Experience doing code reviews, taking responsibility for code not authored, and providing constructive feedback.
  • Comfort with iterative and incremental development and the tradeoffs of experimenting quickly while managing technical debt.
  • Experience with Google Ad Manager or equivalent.
  • Experience with implementing digital ads.
  • Focus on learning and using the best tools for the task.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborating with the team to find new and innovative ways to bring ads and sponsorship into mobile products.
  • Ensuring user experience is always top of mind when considering new solutions and features to improve key performance indicators (e.g., ad viewability, cumulative layout shift).
  • Continually improving and optimizing CBC’s current suite of mobile digital advertising solutions, including display and video integration.
  • Integrating third-party vendor tools that support ad work and revenue goals.
  • Collaborating on quality engineering processes and ad testing workflows.
