About The Position

The Global Finance Technology organization is seeking a Senior Anaplan Solutions Architect with a strong focus on Anaplan software and the company's planning & forecasting environment. This role will provide technical oversight and engineering solutions for complex and strategic system and application development projects. The architect will be responsible for implementing technology by developing clear, comprehensive, and integrated system, technical, and/or product recommendations that support business plans and long-term strategies. They will oversee design reviews and frameworks for multiple product teams, drive the adoption of architecture standards to promote operational excellence, security, reliability, performance efficiency, and cost optimization. This individual will be a recognized thought leader, influencing senior leadership decisions and advancing engineering practices within the organization. A key responsibility will be to evolve the existing Anaplan environment into a cohesive enterprise platform, standardizing individual business areas, creating an integrated system, and ensuring seamless integration with the broader ecosystem (e.g., Snowflake data platform, OneGL). The role requires adaptability to industry changes, quick learning of new technologies, and a strong ability to adapt to evolving requirements. Candidates should take pride in their work, possess strong design and development expertise, and demonstrate competence in writing, testing, and debugging code.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in a technical or business discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum 12-15+ years of Anaplan Configuration Engineering experience.
  • Minimum 10+ years building scalable and maintainable Planning models.
  • Minimum 5+ years of Solutions Engineer experience specifically with Anaplan.
  • Experience collaborating with different business stakeholders to translate needs into actionable technical specifications.
  • Experience designing and implementing integrations between Anaplan and other enterprise systems (EPR, CRM, data warehouses).
  • Experience acting as a technical advisor/coach on complex Anaplan issues and communicating complex Anaplan issues to non-technical partners.
  • Proficiency in product and system components of technical architecture.
  • In-depth knowledge of insurance operations, objectives, and strategies; in-depth understanding of global business and technology trends.
  • Strong influencing and consensus building skills.
  • Adaptability to respond to change quickly.
  • Strong communications skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate with all levels of the organization with diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with agile practices and expectations.

Responsibilities

  • Drive platform standards by developing clear, comprehensive, and integrated system, technical, and/or product recommendations that ensure consistency, security, maintainability, and flexibility within a business domain or portfolio.
  • Partner with the data strategy team to ensure Anaplan aligns with the Finance single version of the truth approach, including managing dimension hierarchies and understanding upstream/downstream lineage.
  • Define integration architecture and cloud competency standards for data flows through Liberty tools (e.g., IDMC) into Anaplan and to/from Snowflake.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of AWS cloud-native patterns (S3 buckets, IAM policies, data encryption, etc.).
  • Ensure the development team understands and follows governance for documentation standards (model designs, runbooks, decision records).
  • Define standards around monitoring, incident response, change management, and data flow diagrams.
  • Create and maintain architecture diagrams.
  • In partnership with the Product Owner and Manager, develop a strategic roadmap for the platform, making incremental progress towards the north star state.
  • Serve as the primary technical liaison with Anaplan, evaluating new features and training needs.
  • Provide technical guidance on build vs. buy decisions.
  • Drive the inclusion of AI in planning processes.
  • Assist teams with critical development as needed.
  • Participate in incident management events and provide consultative recommendations for resolutions.
  • Maintain collaborative and strategic partnerships between customers, vendors, business partners, and technology teams.
  • Mentor staff to develop technical engineering capabilities.
  • Share expertise to ensure continuous improvement and learning within teams to meet current and future engineering needs, demonstrated through publications, speaking engagements, or other indicators of external industry recognition.
