About The Position

The Senior Analyst will be a member of the Global Institutional Business (GIB) NextGen Pool, supporting client coverage, business development and transaction execution across GIB’s institutional client platform, with a significant focus on Financial Sponsors. The Senior Analyst’s primary responsibility will be to support Relationship Managers in developing, marketing and delivering BBVA’s wide range of products and services to institutional clients. Given the current needs of the business, a significant portion of the role will involve supporting Financial Sponsors relationships and related opportunities, while remaining part of the broader GIB pool. The Senior Analyst will coordinate closely with Relationship Managers and Product partners across the United States, Europe, Latin America and other relevant geographies to support client coverage and transaction execution, including proposal preparation and coordination with Risk, Portfolio Management, Legal, Operations, Finance and other internal teams. The role combines day-to-day client coverage responsibilities with financial and credit analysis, market and sector research, transaction execution and non-routine commercial assignments such as pitches and strategic projects. The position offers the opportunity to progressively deepen Financial Sponsors expertise while continuing to gain broader exposure across the GIB platform.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 3 years of relevant professional experience; MBA preferred but not required.
Relevant experience in Corporate Banking, Investment Banking, Credit, Leveraged Finance, Financial Sponsors coverage or a related financial services role.
Strong analytical, financial modeling and credit analysis skills.
Strong understanding of accounting, financial statements, corporate finance and financial markets.
Interest in and/or knowledge of the Financial Sponsors sector is highly valued, as the role will have a significant focus on supporting BBVA’s Financial Sponsors coverage activities. Prior Financial Sponsors, Private Equity, Leveraged Finance, Fund Finance or related experience is a plus but not required.
Strong interest in financial markets, institutional clients and the broader macroeconomic environment.
Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint and AI-enabled tools to support analysis, research, content preparation and day-to-day efficiency; Reuters and Bloomberg a plus.
Understanding of international economics and markets.
Fluency in English required; Spanish and other languages are a plus.
Credit Training a plus.
Relevant FINRA licenses and/or CFA designation are a plus.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across different departments, seniority levels and regions.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships across Senior Bankers, Junior Bankers, Product partners, Risk teams and other internal stakeholders.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.

Responsibilities

Identify and understand client needs and support Relationship Managers in responding effectively to client requests.
Prepare for client meetings, including presentation materials, background information, financial and market analysis and call plans.
Support the development of client pitches and commercial proposals in coordination with Relationship Managers and Product partners.
Support live transaction execution and closings, including coordination of documentation, internal processes and follow-up items.
Research and evaluate potential new client relationships and business opportunities, with a significant focus on Financial Sponsors and relevant portfolio companies.
Assist in identifying cross-selling opportunities across Investment Banking & Finance, Global Markets and Global Transaction Banking products.
Support Senior Bankers in monitoring sponsor activity, portfolio developments, fundraising trends and other relevant market dynamics to identify potential business opportunities.
Proactively follow up on client discussions, transactions and potential opportunities in coordination with the relevant Senior Bankers.
Prepare transaction summaries and Risk-Adjusted-Return analysis for internal approval processes and Credit Committees, including relevant financial metrics, projections, risks and mitigants.
Analyze global client relationships, gathering credit facility, revenue and product information from BBVA teams across different geographies.
Support credit analysis and internal approval processes in coordination with Relationship Managers and Risk teams.
Develop an understanding of the specific credit and risk considerations associated with Financial Sponsors clients, portfolio companies and related transactions.
Support analysis of sponsor portfolios and underlying companies where relevant to financing, advisory or other banking opportunities.
Participate in Credit Committees jointly with Relationship Managers where appropriate.
Conduct joint planning and coordination with Product teams, including M&A Advisory, Debt Capital Markets, Leveraged Finance, Fund Finance, Bank Syndications, Corporate Lending, Real Estate, Foreign Exchange, Global Markets and Cash Management.
Work closely with Product partners to support Financial Sponsors-related opportunities, including financing, advisory, capital markets, hedging and transactional banking solutions.
Coordinate internal procedures with Risk, Legal, Compliance, Operations and other relevant departments.
Support transaction execution by coordinating across Product and internal teams to resolve financial, administrative or operational issues.
Work closely with BBVA colleagues across the United States and internationally to support global client relationships and cross-border opportunities, particularly where Financial Sponsors activity spans multiple geographies.
Perform client, sector and market research and summarize relevant financial, market and industry developments.
Monitor Financial Sponsors-related market activity, including fundraising, investment activity, portfolio developments and relevant transaction trends.
Support pipeline, profitability and revenue analysis for clients and sectors.
Maintain the Customer Relationship Management system and other relevant internal reporting tools.
Support account planning and other internal client and business reporting activities.
Ensure the accuracy and integrity of information used in internal and client-facing materials.
