About The Position

The Senior Analyst, Sustainability Reporting, assists with organizing and coordinating a broad variety of activities involving firmwide portfolio- and asset-level ESG performance data analysis, benchmarking, and reporting; significant ad hoc investor inquiries; and coordination of certain ESG compliance activities. The Analyst’s work activities are directed and closely monitored by the team leader within 1 or more of the team’s 3 major workstreams: Global GRESB Coordination, Global ESG Reporting Coordination, and Supporting Projects. This role involves contributing to the design and population of regular sustainability reports, assisting in articulating business requirements for ESG data collection and validation, understanding and accessing data management systems, staying updated on reporting frameworks, and supporting internal teams on data collection and reporting. The role also includes supporting audit readiness, obtaining responses to ESG ratings and surveys, performing gap and trend analysis, maintaining awareness of regulations, conducting research, identifying process improvements, collaborating with cross-functional teams, utilizing data visualization tools, and participating in training sessions.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Environmental Science, Sustainability, Finance, or a related field
  • Exposure to GRESB and experience with information processing control environment.
  • 3+ years of experience in financial reporting, sustainability reporting, ESG analysis, or a related role.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, ownership of work area, basic appreciation for project management approaches.
  • Experience with Excel and data management applications.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to communicate concisely.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Strong command of English and comfort with Teams/Zoom is necessary.
  • Role will require the ability to work outside of traditional business hours as needed during periods of high volume and for collaboration across global time zones.
  • Occasional travel may be required.

Nice To Haves

  • Technical certification such as CFA, CPA, CFA Certificate in Sustainability Investing, LEED, etc. is desirable.
  • Familiarity with sustainability reporting frameworks and standards (e.g., EET, Inrev, TCFD, SASB, etc.) is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with organizing and coordinating firmwide portfolio- and asset-level ESG performance data analysis, benchmarking, and reporting.
  • Manage ad hoc investor inquiries related to ESG.
  • Coordinate certain ESG compliance activities.
  • Contribute to the design and population of regular sustainability reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Catalog comprehensive list of reporting commitments and create a user interface to promote access to past reporting.
  • Document basic report characteristics to support planning and work scoping.
  • Understand data input sourcing and develop a calendar of reporting commitment deadlines.
  • Apply quality control standards to work products.
  • Assist in articulating business requirements for the collection, validation, and analysis of ESG data.
  • Understand and access data management systems and tools to support efficient data collection and reporting.
  • Stay updated on existing sustainability reporting frameworks, standards, and best practices.
  • Flag emerging reporting requirements to the team leader.
  • Understand the development and implementation of sustainability goals, targets, and initiatives.
  • Provide guidance and support to internal teams on sustainability data collection and reporting.
  • Support internal assurance readiness, including development and management of reporting procedures and documentation.
  • Assist in coordinating engagement with third-party GRESB validation consultants.
  • Obtain or develop responses to key ESG ratings, rankings, surveys, and tenant inquiries.
  • Assist in developing reporting tools to be used in improving ESG performance through data needs, trend analysis, gap analysis, and benchmarking.
  • Flag any deviations from company policies, standards, and operating practices as they relate to sustainability programs.
  • Develop and maintain awareness of regulations and standards needed to support reporting compliance.
  • Undertake research projects and benchmarking analysis on ESG-related topics and themes.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements for reporting and analyzing ESG performance data.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather data and insights for sustainability reporting.
  • Engage stakeholders to address information needs and advance the company's reputation as a leader in sustainability.
  • Utilize data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI) to present sustainability data.
  • Participate in training sessions for internal teams on sustainability reporting practices and tools.
  • Develop training materials as needed.
  • Support monitoring and tracking progress towards sustainability goals and targets.
