About The Position

This Senior Analyst role will oversee and manage the daily operations of the wholesale gas portfolio to meet the requirements of the gas LDC’s customers per applicable tariffs. The position involves performing analysis of system requirements, developing daily supply plans, and leading daily forecasting, planning, scheduling, and reconciliation of nominated supply. The analyst will ensure the reliable use of gas portfolio assets, including pipeline and underground storage capacity, and peaking resources in coordination with Gas Operations. Responsibilities also include overseeing pipeline contract administration, participating in regional coordination committees, and closing monthly pipeline volume measurements. The role supports Gas Accounting and the End User Transportation program.

Requirements

  • Strong spreadsheet, analytical, and statistical skills (e.g., pivot tables, regression analysis, lookup & reference functions) with attention to details and deadlines.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of gas transportation, production, distribution, storage, and system operation.
  • Thorough knowledge of gas contracting practices and/or procurement activities.
  • Knowledge of pipeline tariffs, and of pipeline and distribution facilities and operational characteristics.
  • Experience nominating and scheduling using pipeline electronic bulletin boards and nomination systems (preferably in Northeast).
  • Computer modeling skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to execute under tight deadlines.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, Business, a related discipline or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree or MBA is preferred.
  • Five (5) plus years of natural gas supply experience including scheduling and/or accounting or related industrial experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the daily operations of the wholesale gas portfolio to meet customer requirements per applicable tariffs.
  • Perform analysis of system requirements and develop daily supply plans.
  • Lead daily forecasting, planning, scheduling, and reconciliation of nominated supply.
  • Ensure reliable use of gas portfolio assets (pipeline, underground storage, peaking resources) in coordination with Gas Operations.
  • Oversee and be responsible for pipeline contract administration, including extension and termination of contracts.
  • Participate in regional coordination committees and associations.
  • Close monthly pipeline volume measurement and scheduled quantities, coordinating with Gas Operations to finalize daily and monthly send out/throughput volumes.
  • Support Gas Accounting and End User Transportation program activity.
  • Prepare daily, monthly, and seasonal load forecasting and portfolio management plans.
  • Oversee, develop, and distribute Requests for Proposals (RFPs).
  • Evaluate RFP responses and provide recommendations to management.
  • Lead the execution of all daily, monthly, and seasonal wholesale supply and capacity transactions with third parties.
  • Collect market intelligence through industry publications, conferences, and interactions with market participants.
  • Negotiate NAESB agreements with new counterparties, consulting with Treasury and Legal departments.
  • Stay current with all pipeline tariffs, rate cases, and other filings.
  • Contribute to and support the development of state-mandated Forecast Supply Plans.
  • Work closely with various team members and department experts to achieve departmental goals.
  • Support the Manager of Gas Supply by performing special analysis as needed.
  • Assist in the preparation of daily, monthly, and seasonal load forecasting and portfolio management plans.
  • Oversee development, execution, and oversight of monthly and daily pipeline scheduling requirements.
  • Coordinate daily supply and demand balancing with Gas Operations and execute adjustments as needed.
  • Oversee and reconcile daily/monthly EUT nominated and scheduled quantities.
  • Oversee and execute the release of capacity to mandatory retail choice providers and non-mandatory marketed releases.
  • Oversee and reconcile daily/monthly pipeline delivered supply measurement and scheduled quantities for monthly close process.
  • Maintain pipeline contract database to monitor extensions and expirations.
  • Participate in business continuity and emergency preparedness efforts.
  • Respond to emergency situations as part of the employee's role, potentially involving an Emergency Restoration assignment outside of normal responsibilities, hours, and location.
