Collins Aerospace is seeking a Buyer to support our fuel nozzle production team and help drive key supply chain initiatives that enable our operational goals. In this role, you will work independently with minimal supervision, driving improvements to procurement processes and supply chain systems. You'll collaborate across functions to ensure alignment with organizational policies and procedures, and will serve as a knowledgeable resource for guiding teams on best practices that support supply chain excellence. This is a hybrid role in West Des Moines, IA and may be eligible for relocation assistance. The expectation for this hybrid schedule would be to work four days per week onsite, and one day offsite. This role may have up to 10% travel.

Requirements

  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Supply Chain Management preferred, but not required
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, with a solid understanding of production and supply chain dynamics.
  • Experience building and maintaining strong supplier relationships that support long-term business goals.
  • Demonstrated experience as an effective and strategic negotiator.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing principles and continuous improvement methodologies
  • Working knowledge of contract creation, review, and execution.
  • Proficiency in SAP or similar enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate procurement and timely delivery of materials and services by collaborating closely with internal stakeholders across engineering, operations, and planning teams.
  • Support multiple supply chain disciplines, supporting process execution and successful implementation of procurement strategies.
  • Support sourcing initiatives by researching new suppliers, markets, and pricing trends; provide insights based on operational challenges and day-to-day procurement experience.
  • Resolve general inquiries from internal and external stakeholders with a customer-focused and solution-oriented mindset.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable import, export, and excise regulations, maintaining the highest standards of regulatory adherence.
  • Manage key responsibilities across multiple supply chain functions, especially in smaller or matrixed locations where cross-functional collaboration is critical.
  • Execute procurement and supply chain activities that span multiple disciplines and do not fall into a single defined category.
  • Develop procurement execution strategies leveraging the established supply base-identify optimal materials and services from preferred suppliers to meet business unit needs for performance and cost efficiency.
  • Continuously seek opportunities to improve supply chain performance through data analysis, process enhancements, and alignment with broader operations strategies.
  • Foster strong supplier relationships to drive both objective (on-time delivery, quality) and subjective (communication, responsiveness) performance to the highest levels.
  • Demonstrate strong business and financial acumen-build, support, and present business cases that effectively communicate value to both technical and non-technical audiences.
