About The Position

The Senior Analyst, IT Energy & HSE (Energy, Health, Safety & Environment) role is the designated IT application owner for all Energy Management, HSE, Safety, Building Automation, and Facility Monitoring systems at PowerCo Canada. The role focuses on application lifecycle management, governance, IT/OT integration, cybersecurity compliance, data flows, support model definition, and vendor coordination, ensuring these critical systems reliably support operational safety, energy transparency, and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent.
  • 7-10 years of experience.
  • Strong expertise in administering and supporting Energy, HSE, Safety, and Facility IT applications such as BAEMS (Building Automation & Energy Management System – Zenon/Copa Data), FMCS (Factory Monitoring & Control System – Schneider/Exyte), Quentic (HSE Platform), HMS – Hazard Management Suite (WinGuard), AACS – Access Authorization Control System (Lenel OnGuard), SIMS – Security Incident Management System (Resolver), and CCTV – Closed Circuit Television (Milestone XProtect).
  • ITIL v4 Foundation (Information Technology Infrastructure Library)
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) or PRINCE2 (Projects in Controlled Environments) certification.
  • Experience supporting or managing Energy, HSE, Safety, Building Automation, or Facility Monitoring systems such as BAEMS, FMCS, Quentic, HMS/WinGuard, SIMS/Resolver, AACS/Lenel, or Milestone XProtect.
  • Familiarity with HSE regulatory and compliance frameworks (occupational health, environmental monitoring, safety reporting), including emergency response and incident management processes.
  • Experience with building automation, utilities dashboards, environmental sensors, and sustainability/energy reporting platforms.
  • Background working with OT systems or industrial control concepts: building automation (BA), utilities supervisory systems, or SCADA adjacent architectures.
  • Understanding of energy efficiency, sustainability metrics, utility consumption patterns, and carbon reporting requirements.
  • Experience deploying cloud-based HSE/Energy systems and integrating building automation with enterprise data platforms (Azure, IoT gateways, edge compute).
  • Ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams (HSE, Facilities, Engineering, Security, Operations, Cybersecurity) and global IT groups.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to analyze HSE and Energy KPIs, create dashboards, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Experience in regulated industrial environments where audit readiness, documentation quality, and traceability are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the IT system owner for BAEMS, FMCS, HSE platform, HMS (Hazard Management Suite), AACS (access control) and SIMS system. Manage configuration governance, upgrades, vendor releases, patch management, backup/recovery and documentation.
  • Act as the main liaison between IT and HSE, Facilities/Engineering, and Sustainability/Energy business teams. Translate operational compliance, safety, and energy needs into IT requirements, including data structures, integrations, access models, and workflows.
  • Define integration architecture between application systems and the Enterprise Data Platform (EDP — Azure-based), SAP S/4HANA ERP, and AVEVA MES. Support secure OT/IT integrations via OPC UA, MQTT, Modbus/TCP, and BACnet. Govern data models, retention policies, and KPI definitions for Energy, HSE, and Facility systems.
  • Ensure applications meet PowerCo cybersecurity standards, including IAM (Identity & Access Management), network segmentation, TLS encryption, and logging requirements. Perform risk assessments, vulnerability management coordination, user access reviews, and manage regulatory documentation and SOPs (Standard Operating Procedures).
  • Establish and maintain the support model across Tier 1 (Service Desk), Tier 2 (IT Apps/Infra), Tier 3 (Vendors). Develop SLAs (Service Level Agreements), OLAs(Operating Level Agreements), runbooks, incident workflows, and monitoring dashboards.
  • Lead or support projects involving BAEMS, FMCS, Quentic, HMS, AACS/Lenel, SIMS, and CCTV systems. Coordinate UAT (User Acceptance Testing), go‑live, hypercare, and change management processes following ITIL practices.
  • Manage relationships with suppliers local and international. Oversee licensing, renewals, SLAs and contract compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance energy transparency, automate HSE workflows and expand digitization of Facility monitoring systems. Align with global PowerCo architectural and data governance standards.
