About The Position

Credit Ratings is an integral part of the Global Ratings Services team, comprising a diverse group of 1,400 analysts spread across key financial hubs worldwide. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality insights and exceptional client service across all industry sectors. The Infrastructure & Project Finance practice provides credit analysis on essential, long-lived assets and ring-fenced project financings—assessing contractual frameworks, demand and operating risks, sponsor strength, financial flexibility, and resilience under stress. The team’s work supports capital formation for critical infrastructure and helps the market understand fast-evolving subsectors such as data centres and digital infrastructure. The North America Infrastructure Project Finance Ratings team provides independent credit analysis and ratings on a growing portfolio of essential infrastructure projects across the U.S. and Canada, including transportation, power, and social infrastructure. The team’s coverage spans a broad range of project finance structures, including PPP/availability-based, contracted-revenue frameworks, and demand-risk assets. Supported by a strong pipeline of new issuance and refinancing activity, the team delivers timely, high-quality analytical execution and contributes to S&P Global Ratings’ high-profile Infrastructure sector coverage through rigorous credit assessment, clear rating rationale, and ongoing surveillance. Requirements

  • Three to five years of experience in project finance and/or infrastructure finance (ratings, banking, advisory, investing, or credit) strongly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of infrastructure project structures and documentation (e.g., concession/PPP agreements, EPC and O&M contracts, offtake or availability-payment frameworks, financing terms).
  • Strong financial analysis skills, including cash flow modeling/interpretation, ratio and covenant analysis, and accounting fundamentals.
  • Ownership/execution maturity across multiple credits; delivers high quality with limited oversight and models values-led behavior.
  • Strong collaboration/relationship management; influences through credibility and constructive challenge.
  • Coaching capability that improves team consistency through shared standards and tools.
  • Continuous improvement mindset.
  • AI fluency with judgement.
  • Strong credit/financial/risk analysis linking drivers to forward-looking views and risk appetite.
  • Practical experience embedding AI/LLMs/agents into workflows to improve productivity and insight.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day guidance/coaching to Research Assistants and Rating Analysts, building capability in credit, data discipline, and tooling and reinforcing values-led behaviors.
  • Drive consistency/scalability by codifying standard work and promoting disciplined adoption to strengthen trusted, repeatable insights.
  • Strengthen AI-enabled productivity by creating reusable assets and proposing lightweight automations that free capacity for human analysis and relationship work.
  • Foster continuous improvement by proposing enhancements that remove manual steps without compromising governance or judgement.
  • Partner with senior team members and Data/Engineering to identify and scale AI/automation use cases with governance-by-design, controls, and adoption support.
  • Lead end-to-end execution for assigned credits, ensuring high-quality analysis and timely delivery across priorities with clear accountability.
  • Own surveillance/updates for assigned portfolio, synthesizing performance, market signals, and peer context into decision-useful insights and clear implications for risk.
  • Supporting LLM tools/automation being embedded to accelerate workflows, followed by structured validation and refinement using analytical judgement to maintain trusted conclusions.
  • Operate alongside AI agents in recurring workflows.
  • Prepare/review inputs, reconcile metrics, document assumptions/changes to ensure adherence to methodologies/standard operating procedures.
  • Prepare/review key outputs ensuring clarity and alignment to methodology/sector frameworks and evidentiary standards.
  • Support maintenance/review of models to ensure robustness and repeatability and clear linkage to risk views.
  • Engage with external parties alongside senior team members.
  • Crafts client and executive-ready stories that translate complex data, analysis, and research into a clear narrative.
  • Advising on issues within clear parameters, integrating and communicating complex information to convey S&P’s analytical expertise and drive engagement with market participants.
  • Building trusted stakeholder relationships through emotionally intelligent, collaborative and adaptable delivery.
  • Ensure adherence to methodology/confidentiality/data governance; escalate issues early with options/recommendations to protect integrity and trust.
  • Embed responsible, governed AI use: approved tools/data only; protect confidential info.
  • Drive controlled automation/agentic workflows by contributing to design requirements/controls, supporting testing/rollout, and training others.
  • Supports decisions relating to guardrails for automation: defining what can be automated vs must remain human-led (especially material risk calls and committee conclusions).
