About The Position

The Senior Analyst – Group Treasury Product Control is a key member of the Product Control team, responsible for delivering timely and accurate P&L and accounting execution support across multiple Group Treasury portfolios or strategies. The Senior Analyst will be responsible for championing high standards of control, analytical insight, and continuous improvement through a proactive and strategic approach.

Requirements

  • 1–3 years of experience in Product Control or a related area such as Middle Office, Finance, Risk Management, or Operations, supporting trading desks or banking portfolios.
  • Solid knowledge of fixed income products, including securitized instruments such as Asset-Backed Securities (ABS), Mortgage-Backed Securities (MBS), Collateralized Mortgage Obligations (CMO), Covered Bonds, and Canada Mortgage Bonds (CMB), as well as derivatives and equity products.
  • Understanding of Treasury functions, including funding and hedging activities, with familiarity in related accounting treatments such as Amortized Cost, Fair Value Through Other Comprehensive Income (FVOCI), Fair Value Through Profit or Loss (FVTPL), and hedge accounting methodologies.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, complemented by advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships and confidently interact with Front Office stakeholders.
  • Self-driven and highly accountable professional with a proactive mindset and the ability to succeed in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related discipline is required.
  • Must be available to work overtime during month-end and quarter-end periods, as required to support business needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in P&L reporting, validation, and risk attribution, including the ability to explain key performance and risk drivers, is considered a strong asset.
  • Working knowledge of VBA, SQL, and/or Python is an asset.
  • Professional accounting or finance designation, such as CPA (preferred) or CFA, is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with approved accounting policies and valuation methodologies by maintaining accurate accounting treatment across assigned products and portfolios.
  • Deliver timely and accurate daily Profit & Loss (P&L) and Balance Sheet reporting for the assigned Treasury portfolio.
  • Perform detailed P&L analysis, attribution, and validation to ensure reporting integrity, identifying and resolving discrepancies in partnership with key stakeholders.
  • Reconcile daily P&L results to the General Ledger and supporting sub-ledgers, escalating and addressing exceptions in a timely manner.
  • Manage balance sheet substantiation and support month-end close activities, including account sign-offs, reconciliations, and management reporting.
  • Prepare, review, and analyze Independent Price Verification (IPV), valuation reserves, and fair value adjustments in accordance with Risk Management standards and internal policies.
  • Support internal financial reporting and regulatory reporting requirements as required.
  • Collaborate with business partners, management, and cross-functional stakeholders to facilitate new product implementations and business initiatives while ensuring a strong control and governance framework.
