About The Position

Fairstone Bank is seeking a Senior Analyst, Analytics to join its Analytics team. This role involves collaborating with business leaders to address complex challenges using data. The position demands strong analytical skills, technical proficiency, and the ability to convert data into actionable insights and business recommendations. The ideal candidate should be adept at handling large datasets in a data lake environment, developing dashboards for business performance, and ensuring data quality for their designated areas. A Senior Analyst is expected to independently manage the increasing demand for ad hoc analytics, data modeling, and an expanding portfolio of dashboards and reports, thereby enhancing the speed and quality of insights for both business and regulatory stakeholders.

Requirements

  • Strong proficiency in SQL for complex querying and data analysis.
  • Experience using Python for data analysis, automation, and visualization.
  • Hands-on experience with Power BI and/or Amazon QuickSight.
  • Proven ability to solve ambiguous business problems using data.
  • Strong data storytelling, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working with large-scale datasets in cloud or data lake environments.
  • University degree in Analytics, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 3–5 years of experience in analytics, business intelligence, or a related role.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Alteryx is an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Write complex SQL queries to retrieve and analyze data from a data lake.
  • Perform deep data analysis to answer business questions and uncover actionable insights.
  • Translate analysis into clear recommendations that support decision-making.
  • Build and maintain dashboards and reports for business performance and reporting using Power BI and/or Amazon QuickSight.
  • Partner with business teams including Product, Finance, Treasury, Compliance, and IT to understand requirements and deliver insights.
  • Own data quality for assigned datasets and act as a data steward.
  • Work closely with Data Engineering to maintain robust data pipelines, metadata, and data dictionaries.
  • Communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
