About The Position

The Senior Analyst, Freight Forwarding Accounting is responsible for performing accounting, month-end closing, account reconciliation, and financial analysis activities for the Freight Forwarding business. This position ensures that revenue, cost, accruals, and related balance sheet accounts are recorded accurately, completely, and timely in accordance with company policies and applicable accounting standards. The Senior Analyst works closely with Freight Forwarding Operations and the accounting team to resolve transaction-level issues, support financial reporting, and provide reliable financial information for management review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree Required
  • 2-3 years of experience relating to Financial Accounting and Reporting, Month End Closing and Account Reconciliation Required
  • Intermediate-level MS Excel knowledge Required
  • Good interpersonal skills Required
  • Proficient with PC skills Required

Nice To Haves

  • 3-5 years of experience relating to Financial Accounting and Reporting, Month End Closing and Account Reconciliation Preferred
  • Proficient in SAP Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Prepare monthly journal entries, accruals, reclassifications, and other accounting adjustments with appropriate supporting documentation.
  • Perform month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing activities in accordance with the established closing schedule.
  • Review revenue and direct cost transactions to ensure proper cutoff, classification, completeness, and matching by customer, shipment, service type, and location.
  • Prepare and maintain balance sheet account reconciliations, including accrued revenue, accrued cost, unbilled revenue, prepaid expenses, and other assigned accounts.
  • Investigate aged accruals, reconciling items, and unusual balances, and coordinate with Operations or other departments for timely resolution.
  • Analyze actual results against budget, prior month, and prior year, and provide explanations for significant revenue, cost, and direct margin variances.
  • Prepare recurring financial reports, including revenue and cost analysis, direct margin analysis, accrual aging, customer profitability, and location-level performance reports.
  • Review available operational and accounting data to identify missing revenue, unrecorded cost, duplicate transactions, or inaccurate financial postings.
  • Support billing and collection follow-up by providing accounting information related to outstanding invoices, unbilled revenue, and disputed balances.
  • Maintain complete and audit-ready supporting documentation for journal entries, reconciliations, financial analyses, and closing activities.
  • Escalate significant accounting issues, unresolved variances, and potential financial reporting risks to the Supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Support internal and external audit requests by preparing supporting schedules and documentation.
  • Assist with annual budget, forecast, and business plan preparation.
  • Participate in accounting process improvement, reporting automation, and system enhancement initiatives.
  • Prepare ad-hoc financial analyses and reports requested by management.
  • Support cross-training and knowledge sharing within the FF Accounting team.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
