The Senior Analyst will support National Grid Ventures (NGV)’s growth agenda by providing research, insight, and analysis across competitive transmission opportunities across ISO/RTO markets and large-load market entry and scaling strategy. The role will focus on market, competitor, and policy analysis to support bid / contract development, strategic decision-making, and risk evaluation for transmission, generation, and other grid-enabling infrastructure investments, as well as process optimization to support efficient workflow across our portfolio.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree with 1-3 years relevant professional experience; strong quantitative and analytical skills.
  • Experience in the power sector or in strategy, infrastructure, or energy-related consulting or corporate roles.
  • Ability to translate complex data and analysis into clear business insights and strategic recommendations.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare executive-ready presentations.
  • Foundational understanding of U.S. power markets, regulatory structures, and transmission economics.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with ISO/RTO transmission planning and competitive solicitation processes.
  • Experience with generation and transmission project development concepts such as interconnection, permitting, scheduling, and cost estimating.
  • Comfort working in emerging or ambiguous market environments and building analytical frameworks from first principles.
  • Ability to develop evidence-based points of view and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and synthesize industry, market, and policy developments impacting competitive transmission and large-load interconnection and translate them into implications for NGV strategy and pipeline prioritization.
  • Develop and maintain a structured market evaluation framework for large load opportunities, including market sizing, interconnection mechanics, transmission and generation solutions, commercial models, and project screening metrics.
  • Maintain opportunity and pipeline prioritization, identifying where large-load demand and transmission investment intersect, and support early-stage opportunity screening and project development diligence.
  • Gather competitive intelligence on transmission developers, utilities, hyperscalers, and infrastructure investors to understand positioning, bid strategies, and market entry approaches.
  • Organize and maintain internal pipeline tracking processes, including project iterative evaluation and prioritization
  • Track competitor projects and partnerships across ISO/RTO markets to inform business case development, risk assessment, and investment decisions.
  • Support project-level financial analysis, including development of NPV and IRR ranges, sensitivities, and scenario analyses for early-stage screening and investment evaluation.
  • Develop standardized screening metrics and scoring tools to compare opportunities across regions, technologies, and commercial structures.
  • Work closely with origination, finance, and legal teams to translate market and technical inputs into decision-ready investment materials.
  • Support the development of competitive bid proposals and responses to ISO/RTO and state-led solicitations, including evaluation of solicitation criteria and coordination across internal workstreams.
  • Prepare clear, concise executive-level materials summarizing market insights, competitive positioning, and business case recommendations.
  • Collaborate with business development, technical, regulatory, policy, and finance teams to support project development and strategic initiatives, including process improvements to support efficient work across our teams and portfolios.
  • Contribute in project-specific roles, including joint ventures or cross-functional teams, as needed.
