About The Position

Cincinnati Children's Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) seeks a Senior Analyst - Business Intelligence to capture and prepare reporting and coding, and analyze clinical and research data at a high level to support various data projects. This role involves gathering, preparing, and analyzing user requirements to create complex to advanced dashboards and reports using enterprise data systems like Epic Slicer Dicer, Caboodle & Clarity, SAP/Crystal, and Business Objects. The analyst will utilize specific hospital data domains, provide consultation to customers and technical staff, and ensure the delivery of accurate and timely data. Responsibilities include analyzing complex business problems using data to provide insights to decision-makers, identifying and interpreting trends and patterns in datasets, developing forecasts and strategic plans, and providing detailed ad hoc analysis for hospital departments. The role also requires working with business and clinical units to understand data requirements, serving as a project manager for complex projects, developing task priorities and timelines, and creating specifications for reports and analysis. Optimization of enterprise business intelligence tools, development of business cases for BI solutions, planning and executing testing, and performing change management are also key duties. Additionally, the role involves developing end-user education strategies and materials, identifying and solving technical support issues, training and leading others in business intelligence, participating in code reviews, and mentoring junior team members. The analyst will align BI requests with existing tools and processes, develop new processes, investigate new tools, and use troubleshooting skills to support BI solutions, escalating issues as needed. Communication between internal and external parties will also be coordinated.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, software engineering, software development, industrial & systems engineering, information technology machine learning, data science, health informatics, or a related quantitative field.
  • 2 years of experience in healthcare data management, data programming, and/or reporting/visualization.
  • 2 years of experience using SQL or similar tools to extract and manage data from complex relational databases.
  • 2 years of experience using statistical software to create research-quality clinical datasets and perform QI, clinical, and/or machine learning analyses.
  • 2 years of experience creating interactive clinical data visualizations.
  • 2 years of experience in managing complex data analytics projects including meetings with investigators, translating customer requirements into technical solutions, ensuring project requirements are met, and creating end-user documentation and/or training.
  • 1 year experience working with pediatric clinical registry data and/or a pediatric multi-institutional quality improvement collaborative. Experience may be gained through undergraduate/graduate coursework, internships, or professional experience.

Responsibilities

  • Support the development of build, configuration and release management processes and meet user and technical documentation standards.
  • Develop end-user education strategies and develop or oversee the development of end-user materials for end user training, adoption and education.
  • Identify recurrent technical support issues and develop solutions, as well as support plans for new solutions.
  • Train and lead others in business intelligence.
  • Participate in code reviews, including reviewing code of others.
  • Mentor junior members of the team related to specific technical skills as well as troubleshooting skills, departmental processes and general professionalism.
  • Analyze Business Intelligence requests to align with existing tools and processes.
  • Develop new processes and investigate new tools where appropriate.
  • Use troubleshooting skills to support Business Intelligence solutions, timely escalate unresolved issues, and assist others in solving escalated issues.
  • Coordinate and facilitate communication between internal and external parties on assigned tasks and related issues.
