About The Position

Reporting into the GFCD Technology, Analytics, and Innovation department, this new position has been created for the purpose of establishing GFCD Global TM capabilities for MUFG. One of several key positions in the Global Financial Crimes Division Transaction Monitoring function, this position will be responsible for providing strategic execution of the AML control regionally and globally for MUFG. The selected colleague will work at an MUFG office or client sites four days per week and work remotely one day.

Requirements

8+ years of experience leading financial crimes, AML, sanctions, or transaction monitoring programs in complex financial institutions.
Strong knowledge of TM and CRR systems, including model design, tuning, segmentation, alert generation, implementation, and ongoing optimization.
Knowledge of applicable financial crimes laws, rules, and regulatory expectations, including FRB, SEC, OCC, FATF, FinCEN, OFAC, USA PATRIOT Act, BSA/AML, and OFAC screening requirements.
Experience designing, building, or enhancing TM program capabilities, including tuning and optimization methodologies, governance routines, and cross-entity execution practices.
Working knowledge of Python, SQL, SAS, R, or similar tools used for data analysis, model assessment, tuning, and data sourcing activities.
Familiarity with leading vendor TM platforms such as Actimize, SAS, Mantas, Siron, or similar systems.
Strong knowledge of model risk management, validation expectations, governance evidence, and regulatory standards for AML models and related controls.
Experience leading across functions and entities, including Compliance, Technology, Operations, Model Risk, regional teams, control function leadership, and senior executives.
Proven ability to execute in complex, demanding environments with competing regulatory, operational, technology, and entity-specific priorities.
Strong communication and collaboration skills, with ability to translate technical model and data issues into clear business, risk, and governance implications.
Executive-level presentation skills, including ability to brief senior leaders on program status, risks, decisions, and One MUFG alignment.

Responsibilities

Lead the design, implementation, and oversight of TM and CRR models across bank, trust, securities, and related entities, balancing technical model development with enterprise program objectives.
Develop program roadmaps, project timelines, resource plans, and budget requests to support cross-entity execution and build-out of new or enhanced TM capabilities.
Support hiring, training, and management of junior team members while providing direction across technical execution, program governance, and stakeholder engagement.
Apply knowledge of statistical models, tuning, segmentation, and alert generation to guide junior staff and connect technical decisions to AML risk coverage, operational impact, and governance expectations.
Design and maintain TM tuning and configuration methodologies, including what-if scenario analytics, excess over threshold, ATL/BTL testing, and governance evidence needed to support cross-entity consistency.
Use R, Python, SQL, or similar tools to analyze data, assess segmentation and tuning outcomes, and support data sourcing, quality review, and enablement activities required for TM program execution.
Resolve complex data, system, and implementation issues by coordinating across Compliance, Technology, Operations, Model Risk, and regional stakeholders.
Lead optimization and remediation projects for MUFG’s TM and CRR systems, including alignment of entity-specific priorities to global standards, methodologies, and program outcomes.
Coordinate with GFCD, regional compliance teams, Technology, Operations, and other control partners to align requirements, resolve execution risks, and support effective DTO operations.
Create, update, and operationalize TM and CRR methodologies so they support model development, program governance, data enablement, and One MUFG consistency.
