About The Position

Reading Partners is seeking a Senior AmeriCorps Program Manager (SACPM) to drive AmeriCorps Volunteer and alumni engagement through various initiatives. This national role serves as an intermediary between current AmeriCorps Volunteers and Reading Partners service alumni, focusing on building and implementing sustainable AmeriCorps Volunteer engagement practices and strategy throughout the entire volunteer lifecycle. The SACPM will work to enhance the AmeriCorps alumni program, increase alumni engagement, and strengthen the Reading Partners AmeriCorps (RPAC) program by fostering continued connection post-service. This position reports to the Managing Director of Human Resources and will manage national AmeriCorps Program Managers. The role requires close collaboration with national team members and regional contacts. This is an exciting opportunity for an energetic, highly organized, and innovative professional and people manager. The position is remote and requires hires to be based in states where Reading Partners operates, including: The District of Columbia, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Texas, Washington State, and Virginia.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience developing strategy, managing projects and/or leading marketing and communications work with a track record of success in these areas; must have 3+ years of experience directly managing staff.
  • Are an AmeriCorps alumni or have a high degree of familiarity with the AmeriCorps program.
  • Have demonstrated experience in volunteer or employee relations work such as performance management, conflict resolution, or grievance or complaint handling in partnership with HR or a similar function.
  • Have a strong commitment to service and support of all teammates and stakeholders.
  • Have a proven track record of success with data-driven decision-making related to creating and implementing organizational initiatives.
  • Display strong interpersonal and communications skills.

Responsibilities

  • Define and implement standards for ensuring optimal AmeriCorps Volunteer experience and “Life After Reading Partners AmeriCorps (RPAC)”.
  • Develop and implement national initiatives for AmeriCorps Volunteer engagement throughout the AmeriCorps Volunteer life cycle.
  • Collaborate with National Service Recruitment/Admissions to create a scalable pre-service engagement strategy & focus on collecting data about what motivated AmeriCorps Volunteers to apply to RP, their onboarding experience, and how they hope to develop throughout the year.
  • Create Development/Engagement Opportunities that honor the diverse community of AmeriCorps Volunteers and are aimed to support AmeriCorps Volunteers in their professional journey and increase engagement amongst AmeriCorps Volunteers locally & nationally.
  • Advise and help create a Life After AmeriCorps strategy to increase AmeriCorps Volunteers engagement and satisfaction with the program - including building a pathway from service to employment.
  • Help build culture of appreciation and gratitude for AmeriCorps Volunteers.
  • Cultivate an AmeriCorps Volunteers mentor program that includes internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop AC-specific staff training for staff who manage AmeriCorps Volunteers, with emphasis on compliant volunteer management, documentation, conflict resolution and escalation in partnership with HR.
  • Create sustainable tracking methods to determine success for AmeriCorps Volunteers experience and regularly share wins and challenges with organizational leadership.
  • Root work and goals in AmeriCorps Volunteer experience survey results and feedback.
  • In partnership with the national AC Team, expand upon current AC experience offerings, including the national All-AC calls, AmeriCorps Leadership Committee, AmeriCorps Newsletter, and AmeriCorps Mentorship program.
  • Lead the “Leaders In Training (LIT)” course for Reading Partners AmeriCorps Seniors.
  • Assess current local initiatives, and help create a scalable coaching strategy that centers the AmeriCorps Volunteers experience and supports regions in developing impactful AmeriCorps Volunteers, advise on 1:1 structure, pillars of AmeriCorps Volunteers management & evaluation, etc. - creating a streamlined process for best practice sharing.
  • Build a dynamic AC service launch and AC graduation for AmeriCorps Volunteers.
  • Enhance and expand the Reading Partners Alumni program.
  • Create baseline data to determine Alumni pathways after service.
  • Drive Alumni engagement strategy and train regional leaders on strategy implementation.
  • Identify and secure partnerships with universities, faith-based, peer service, community-based organizations, and other organizations for alumni networking.
  • Manage and expand the Alumni Advisory Committee, a group of RPAC alums who support alumni engagement efforts both regionally and nationally.
  • Create systems and tools to support the ongoing engagement of alumni through social media, events, etc.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to establish clear alumni participation and mutually beneficial pathways for success.
  • Lead and coach 2 ACPMs in their programmatic management and regional support relative to grant requirements.
  • Lead ACPMs to identify policy and process improvement opportunities and collaborate with other departments for best advice practices to optimize/improve AmeriCorps Volunteers experience--serve as lead drafter on policy/process improvements affecting AmeriCorps volunteers.
  • Be an expert on policies impacting AmeriCorps Volunteers(federal, state, and organizationally) and thought partner with ACPMs to support members and regions.
  • Lead elevated AmeriCorps Volunteers grievances and investigations on behalf of the organization, in close partnership with HR, ensuring issues are handled promptly, fairly, and in alignment with policy and AmeriCorps regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • During peak AmeriCorps enrollment and offboarding periods, support the national AC team to ensure successful and compliant on/off-boarding of AmeriCorps Volunteers.
  • Be a voice for AmeriCorps Volunteers experience throughout the organization.
  • Lead the AC experience survey creation and analysis, and translate findings into clear recommendations and action plans.
